Wrecked our Christmas Day. Made on online booking for Christmas Day lunch. Their booking site showed they were open and accepted the booking. On Christmas Eve I received an email requesting I confirm my booking so they “don’t give our table away”. After driving for 1.5 hours to get to the hotel we find out they’re closed and we weren’t the only ones. A 3 hour round trip on Christmas Day for nothing. How hard is it to black out a day on your booking page when your closed ?

I dined here recently while touring the area and decided on The Commercial Hotel for lunch. There is an outdoor dining area out the back of the hotel with tables and chairs undercover and out in the sun for those cooler days, the area is well protected from winds as it is enclosed in high walls. The Hotel/Dining area itself are not much to look at but the meals are of high quality and a very reasonable price. Our table had the Friday special House Fish n Chips and Lunch Schnitzel with Mushroom sauce. The meals were large and we could not eat it all. The salad was very nice and fresh, the chicken schnitzel was juicy and in a crunchy crumb, there was 2 portions of fish which were moist and the chips were crispy and hot. We also decided on Lemon, Lime and bitters for drinks and they were extremely delicious. There was the usual selection of pub style meals available to buy and all the meals served around me appeared of generous proportions. I will definitely dine here again when travelling through the area.

They have miserable staff with bad attitudes. I’ve dropped into the bar a few times on a Saturday night and never had a problem but my friend and I had a bad experience by one of the bar maids with blond hair on the Saturday night (28/1/23) that just passed. We were waiting for sometime before some other customer came along and got served before us. I asked why she left us standing there and served another customer before us and she told me that I had an attitude and had us removed for nothing. I was not drinking alcohol and my friend only had two cans of Jim beam at that pub. They discriminate against people of colour if you ask me. Totally disgusted with this place
