I have travelled all over the world and slept in some awful places, but this is at the bottom of the pile. When you walk in it feels dirty and uncared for, and there's a smoky, unclean smell in reception. We had paid upfront and therefore didn't leave immediately, and were shown the bedroom, I was in shock at the state of the place, beds sunken and carpet worn. We decided we couldn't stay there and asked for our money back. They agreed to return out money but the boss wasn't there, we returned twice and have written to them, with no response. The only thing to say after this experience is avoid at all cost, and don't believe the fake good reviews.

Myself, my husband and our Chihuahua stayed here the August Bank Holiday weekend. The hotel is old fashioned but very clean. The hotel staff are lovely. If you're a light sleeper then maybe this hotel isn't for you as the floors are wooden. We had a huge room with a double and single bed. There was a huge open wardrobe where our dog could sleep. We didn't eat at the hotel as we had the dog but there's plenty of places around with outdoor dining options. The hotel doesn't have a car park but there's two street car parks directly behind it about a 3 minute walk. Parking was tricky at times but that's probably with everyone staycationing at the weekend. Parking is free after 6 and on Sunday's and Bank Holidays.

Highly recommend here. Check-in was quick & informative (Loui). The room was spotless with toilitries, tea, coffee, iron, hairdryer, jacozzi bath. etc. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, a huge variety of options! The staff were attentive, and the dining area is comfortable and cosy. We dined in the bar, and our group were happy with their choice. I had the fish and chips, and it was delicious. All staff from reception to housekeeping were friendly, professional & courteous. Some of our group did use the leasure centre & were very complimentary about it.
