Opal Key Resort & Marina

This hotel was a great location for exploring Key West, walking distance to Duval. Pool was nice and service was good. Rooms are a little dated. Wish there were more options for breakfast and coffee on the property. Overall it was a good stay.

We just got back from a 3 night stay @ Opal Key, we had an amazing experience. We were checked in by the wonderful LaDonna who made us feel like family & then escorted to our room & explained the property by Dima. The pool experience was excellent & made even better by Yuri & his should be world famous margarita, delicious & thank you for the top notch service ; overall excellent experience

We have a reservation for Jan 2026. I have contacted the hotel via the email (4 TIMES) posted with two simple questions. We never got a response. If they cannot respond to a simple email, I have no confidence with how they are going to handle our reservation when the time comes.

I chose this hotel for the Opal name - I have stayed at the Opal in Clearwater, FL so my expectations were set high. Service and amenities were not on par with what I've experienced before - I give them some grace due to the renovations and I think they are probably doing the best they can given the circumstances so hopefully it gets better once complete. Pros: Great location with sunset views, rooms are clean and spacious. The pool was heated and clean, with towel service and free sunscreen on deck. The "no saving chairs" policy was strictly enforced which I appreciate. Pool servers were running around like crazy to get everyone drinks and food even though the bar/restaurant are still closed. Cons: I don't think all of the rooms have been completely updated yet. I had a two queen bed room with a pool view on the third floor. On our last night there was a severe thunderstorm and I was woken up by water pouring through our ceiling onto our bed and all of our stuff. In the morning I could see a large crack across the ceiling where the water had been coming through and signs of mold, so certainly not he first time this was an issue. I find this all unacceptable given the prices paid to stay here. Additionally, I noticed bar charges on my hotel bill that were definitely not mine - I brought it up with guest services who said they would double check the bar receipts but never heard back and they have ignored all subsequent requests to check the billing. So make sure you look closely at your receipt upon checkout and deal with any discrepancies immediately. Also, do not book the cheapest rooms on the first floor - the ground floor balconies are just open to the street with no railing or fence so anyone could just walk up to your sliding glass door if they wanted.

the location is amazing and so was the complimentary breakfast. The hotel is old and antiquated and it’s a n need for a major update the staircase and hallways smell of mold. The gym was also full of mold on the ceiling, difficult to breathe bye
