Duval House

Great place to stay for escape room lovers… Check-in closes at 9pm, and staff clock out. There isn’t a 24hours reception desk, so if you’re driving down be sure to leave plenty of time and get in contact so that you receive your late check-in instructions, unlike us. We arrived at 10pm, to a locked gate, with no idea what the code to get in was, and as we do not have US phones, were unable to call the staff. A guest kindly let us into the resort, and there is a phone on top of a mail box with an out of hours number. After calling, staff were able to talk us through how to get our keys, but the series of steps definitely made it feel like an escape room. Room: Small and compact room. This hotel is laid out like a series of small cabin style huts. To be fair it had all the essentials, and was clean. The sink was in the room separate from the toilet and shower which was a bit strange. All amenities provided. Unfortunately, the AC unit is very loud, but there is also a fan, which is quieter, and tolerable to have on when sleeping. It is hard to sleep with the AC on. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Free drinks on check in and check out, no nasty surprises with the resort fee, which is $21.50. Breakfast options were limited, consisting of fruit (melon and pineapple), mini-pastries, granola yoghurt pots and waffles. Instant coffee in flasks. Waffles were made fresh by the staff. Plenty of cats were roaming around the resort. Extras: Only a small car park was available, with about 6 spaces. It costs $30 to park here overnight, but there is street parking available outside for $6/hr between 8am-10pm. You can hire bikes to explore Key West for $15 per day. Location: Very lively location, best location, right in the heart of all the shops, bars and cafes, walking distance to all the attractions.

This hotel really impressed me from start to finish. At check-in, I was offered a complimentary drink, which immediately made me feel welcomed. To my surprise, they also upgraded my room after learning that I had a terrible stay at a different hotel before arriving. That gesture alone showed how much they care about their guests. The upgraded room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. Everything about the property felt clean and well taken care of. The staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed, and their friendliness made the stay even better. I’ve stayed at many hotels, but the service here stands out as some of the best. I left feeling relaxed and appreciated, and I’ll absolutely be back the next time I’m in town.

this is the place you need to go if you want the authentic Keys experience. it is clean, welcoming and the breakfast is great. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would 1000% recommend The Duval House!!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful my stay was here. The front desk team greeted me with a free drink at check-in, which was such a nice surprise. They even upgraded my room after hearing about the awful experience I had at another hotel before arriving. That small act of kindness really turned my trip around. The upgraded room was spotless, very comfortable, and had everything I needed. The whole hotel was kept extremely clean, and every staff member I met was helpful and friendly. It’s rare to find a place that combines excellent customer service with such clean and comfortable accommodations. I’ll definitely be recommending this hotel to friends and family, and it will be my go-to whenever I’m in the area!

In the past we have stayed atGarden House which is a sister property. So this trip we decided to try Duval House. We had no idea how large this property is. It’s a beautiful garden oasis right on Duval Street. Room was small, as expected. Clean and exactly all we need for a trip to Key West. Breakfast in the morning was wonderfully prepared by Susan. She went out of her way each day to make sure my husband got his Decaf. Pool was a nice retreat from the heat of the afternoon. Towels and Sunscreen are available in the office. Special shout out to Geo who took great care of us each day. Thank you!!! We will be back.

Stayed a night at the Duval House and it was wonderful. Beautiful spacious room, super friendly employees - got a free drink on arrival and waters to take for our drive upon checking out. Close to be able to walk to places. The back garden area is lovely and quiet. Great coffee in the room and the free breakfast was delicious- esp the yogurt and homemade waffles with fruit. Would definitely stay here again in the future. Also got to see resident cats Kiss Kiss & Big Daddy.
