I was brought up in France and experienced Michelin restaurants before they came to UK and became overly pretentious. This is the epitome of the original Michelin ethos -excellent food , locally sourced, well presented in a relaxed atmosphere. No tweezers or ridiculously lengthy tasting menus.(Who can remember course 5 of a 10 course tasting menu?) Efficient, very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are superbly clean ,most with views of garden, peaceful setting and a base for excellent walks. The only niggle I have is their superb afternoon tea precludes having dinner here. (Unless you do a serious walk/marathon between the two!)
