The environment and facilities of the B&B itself are very good, and it is a very atmospheric accommodation. The biscuits in the room were delicious, and the meals provided by the B&B were also good, but not cost-effective (some dishes were a bit salty). The location is relatively remote, and I feel that people who stay here generally drive their own cars. We are a bit far away from Keswick and Derwentwater, and if the bus stops, we can only call to book a taxi. However, the overall accommodation experience is still very good!

It is very rare that I go to any hotel and feel like the experience met everything I was hoping for. From day one this hotel was superb, the staff, every single one of them, are an utter credit to the manor, they really do set a standard in customer service that puts many hotels to shame, customer service is everything these days and boy did they succeed. The hotel itself is located in a stunning location 7 miles north of Keswick and sits below the mountain area of Skiddaw. It has excellent bus services and for those who enjoy good food you just cannot go wrong. The restaurant and the bar create a great ambiance and great to relax and rest after a day touring. This hotel is one of those wonderful finds you suddenly come across and wish you’d found it years earlier. 5 stars.

This hotel is in a fantastic location facing beautiful scenery. Our double room was lovely with a great view and modern bathroom. The staff were wonderful and went over and above. Especially the breakfast staff and great barman. Good walks for dogs in the woods next to the hotel.

We stayed at Ravenstone manor/Trusmador cottage (June). We’ve stayed here many times over the years. It used to have lovely staff, they were lovely and friendly, always asking if everything was okay. The cleanliness used to be outstanding. When we arrived this time, there was food crumbs all over the sofa, the place wasn’t as clean as we have seen it. The first morning, a staff member had forgotten to give a guest his toast so he complained and, as she walked away from him, she called him a prick to other staff members who all laughed. On the second morning we overheard the staff bickering about a table for 6 at lunchtime, we overheard them saying “I’m not doing that, leave that for the afternoon staff, they will just have to suck it up”. When we requested extra toast and coffee, the staff member had a scowl on her face. The breakfast has also been reduced over the years. I asked for house keeping the first day, that resulted in giving us a single toilet roll, the bed wasn’t made and no clean sheets were provided. Charlie (the owner) was behind the bar chatting to a guest at the back of the room. I arrived at the bar waiting to be served, he looked at me and carried on his conversation for a good few minutes. There was a bell for service on the bar and I was very tempted to press it. I think the staff and the owner are very rude. We will not be returning. It was a better place to stay with the staff they had 6/7 yrs ago, they were so friendly and polite. They really took care of their customers and made sure they enjoyed their stay, frequently enquiring if everything was ok. We didn’t even get asked anything this time. This experience has upset me greatly as this was a special occasion when we stayed here. They’re now just happy to take your money.

We stayed for 3 nights in twin room ( made into massive comfortable bed) Hotel was beautiful, decor really in keeping with the history of the house Lovely food on all nights and the best of all; brilliant engaging staff all really friendly Vlad was amazing , always hardworking and hospitable I’m sorry I can’t remember everyone’s name Another highlight for us was watching the red squirrels and how the staff looked after them We would love to return.

First things first, the staff , absolutely spot on as always , we've stayed here many times and they really are a credit to the place , never met the kitchen team but a thank you to them too for turning out quality dishes time after time, this was a double birthday break for us so we booked the master bedroom as a special treat, here's what I thought, the clear and obvious feature of this room is the stunning view from the huge bay window , it's a good sized room with a super king bed and seating in the bay window , the bathroom has a shower and bath combo, we were there June 20th and the back end of a heatwave , the room was hot , obviously with windows like that it's going to be , so the windows were open , the downside to this is the road noise , certain times of the day it gets busy so noise is inevitable, the other little niggle I had was the location of room 4s bathroom loo , I could hear it 3 or 4 times a night flushing more or less close to the headboard , do I think it was worth the extra cost for that room, in all honesty probably not, imho for the premium price paid I think guests staying 3 or more nights could be provided with bathrobes and possibly an afternoon tea or something along those lines to enhance their stay [ just my opinion ] , however we will be going back hopefully in July and October in one of the other rooms , we love the place like many other repeat guests , and look forward to our stays. If you are looking for a quality hotel backed up with first class staff then book with confidence, not forgetting it's pet friendly.
