I've been coming to KC about every other year or so, for approximately 20 years, for work. I almost always stay at The Raphael Hotel. PROS - The hotel has that unique, kind-of-eccentric feel to it that I've found in some Autograph hotels. It has a personality, and feels somewhat European - Great location. There are shops, restaurants, museums, and beautiful houses within walking distance - Friendly staff. Tracee, a front desk agent, was helpful. David has been helping me with my bags for 17 years, and I understand that Bob has also been there that long. - I collected Bonvoy points - I received a complimentary upgrade to a suite. I'd requested a quiet room via the chat function, and they assigned me a room at the end of the hallway - They recycle, and have moved away from small plastic bottles to large refillable bottles - Pretty views from the top floors - I always have a drink and its charmingly-named neighborhood restaurant/bar, Chaz. It's quirky, like the rest of the property. Last time, a guy sat at the bar with his dog. This time, they had a musical duo (two older gentleman). Live music in a small setting can sometimes be annoying, but these guys were enjoyable, and the room was into it - The basic five requirements were met: The room was clean. It was dark at night. I could control the temperature. It was quiet. The bed had a top sheet. CONS - While Chaz has a certain je ne sais quoi at night, it's a little dreary at breakfast time

I specially chose this hotel which is the closest to Nelson Art Gallery. The elevator is old, but the room is very new with advanced facilities, complete and clean. The bed is very comfortable.
The gym is on the third floor, and the treadmill is next to the window. There are traces of Sheraton logo on the glass of the gym, and I know who its predecessor is š The swimming pool is half outside and half outside, which is a hot tub.
Free parking, you can enter and exit the parking lot by swiping the room card.
There are two types of breakfast: buffet and menu. Classic food, standard.

This is our main place we book where ever we go. The staff is friendly the room was clean the kids had a great time in the pool. The one problem I had was that the hot tub was cold and dirty I was upset about that.

The friends we went to from the airport were very convenient. It would be great if we took a taxi directly. Then the front desk service was very friendly. We stayed in so many hotels and felt that the price performance of the hotel was very high. Recommended

Checked in on 10/4 for only a night. I could tell this was going to be a great stay when I met Alissa at the front desk. She was awesome! Great personality and happy to help and answer any questions I had (which were many after not being in KC for 40 years). The room was nice and clean and the hotel overall was very nice. But the main reason I'm writing this review is because of the great customer service Alissa provided. -GC

Convenient location if you donāt mind walking a little bit, clean, and friendly service. The city view from our room was spectacular! We loved The Link, which is the glass walkway that goes directly from the hotel all the way to Union Station. Very convenient. Then you can hop right on the KC Streetcar, which is the free trolley that goes all the way up Main Street. We also enjoyed the outside pool located on a lower buildingās roof. I wish the hotel offered water for the guests in the lobby or at least a convenient place to fill up water bottles.

Very satisfied with the stay, the hotel has just been renovated, about 5-10 minutes walk from the union station, turn left from the station gate and turn left, you can see it from afar, very conspicuous. The front desk is on the 2nd floor. If the night arrives too late, you need to press the intercom outside the main entrance of the 1st floor to let the front desk open. A few front desks are very welcoming, not a super metropolis hotel is not the same. Breakfast is similar to other hotels, that is, many things need to be heated by themselves, which is very interesting. There is also a canteen at the front desk, and snacks are big. My room is equipped with a microwave and a large fridge. The windows in the room need to be opened before the main power switch of the door is opened. When I left, let the front desk help me find the rental, and the rental fee was reasonable, very good.

Outstanding
I stayed at the Loews in June 2024 for a conference. The conference facilities, including the catered food for breakfast and lunch, were top notch. The space, layout, and room for side conversations was good. I'd happily have a conference there again. As for the rooms, the double queen room I was in was great. The beds were comfortable, the linens clean, the pillows plentiful. The light hygiene for the room was a solid 98% and only thing missing is that the blackout curtains don't quite close all of the way. Nothing that the clamps from the hanger in the closet couldn't fix. The downstairs bar was well stocked, and slightly understaffed. Despite that, a good hangout for post conference discussions.
GGuest UserWe were so surprised! Very nice hotel, nicer than higher class brands we have stayed at lately! CLEAN, updated, good breakfast. CLOSE to Arena, convenience wins it out. Rooms were dark, bed not the most comfortable (but clean is what matters!), not much for seating. One desk chair, otherwise just the beds, small window but overall highly recommend! Staff very nice. I would recommend to the company, a luggage holder for the room. Yes there was a large closet, and a long counter/bench to set your luggage on, however there was nothing by the bathroom. We were traveling with our kids, so I had to keep my bag in the middle of the room, after getting out of the shower I had to walk into the room to get all my stuff. I thought if only I had something to put my luggage on right outside the bathroom. None of these ācomplaintsā would warrant losing a start though.
Overall I had a great stay at the Hampton. The location is excellent--walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, breweries, etc. I was upgraded at check-in and had a king room with balcony on the top floor and the room and view were both really nice. I stored my bag at the reception and checked in very late after an event, and the person working the front desk was very helpful. My only complaint was that my room had very clearly not been vacuumed.
GGuest UserIāve now stayed at almost every 21C hotel (I havenāt been to Iowa). Gets an overall five stars with some stronger points and some weaker points. Strong: the artwork this time around was poignant, the thought provoking, and cohesive. The restaurant and restaurant staff were outstanding (The Savoy, reviewed separately). Their room service was awesome too. The beds at 21C have always been comfy and I like their toiletry products. Weaker: The front desk staff was a mixed bag. Generally helpful and nice, but I was received more coolly here than some other places. Housekeeping. I 1000% understand we are still struggling with COVID and the economy and labor issues. And I donāt know who had my room previously, but there were several small shards of glass in the seating area, there was a pair of underwear behind the couch (which I didnāt touch and left there), and I somehow found a pair of dried up old contact lenses on the bedspread. Please note, the room was generally clean and well appointed, but the three things I mentioned were pretty big things. Also, if we arenāt going to go back to having minibars (which Iām fine with), can we have mini fridges in the rooms? I get youāre trying to up-sell room service, but I would just like to be able to chill my water or have something cool to drink without asking for a (too small) bucket of ice. Would stay again. The positive far outweighs the negative. Tip: no valet parking, but there is a garage across the street that charges 10 bucks a night.
GGuest UserOverall the experience at the hotel was very good, however, check in was lengthy and I had another issue at checkout I'll explain later. There was only one lady at the front managing to check in a long line of people. I can only imagine that they are still short staffed after Covid times. I had checked in 24 hours prior and chosen a room on my phone app, but our room was not ready and was given another. No problem..just glad to get one after the wait. The lady was pleasant checking us in but never apologized for the wait or welcomed us as Diamond members. Room was small but overall clean. Would have liked to have a comfortable chair to sit in but not one in the room. Breakfast was a buffet and overall average/good. Now the part not so good...apparently Hilton is now giving credits for breakfasts for (Gold & Diamond levels). It's put into your account to be used to offset the amount you spent. The amount can be different depending on the hotel. In most cases you will end of paying more due to taxes. I find this offensive and in my case the bookkeeping got messed up and it ended up being added in rather than taken out. I had to end up calling the hotel on two occasions to get it worked out...but it did happen. I appreciated the help of JoAnn and Robert and the bookkeeping department. In addition when checking out, I received my statement, it only showed parking that was owed. I was assured that the breakfast & credits were already sorted out. That was not the case as I found out a day later. Because Hilton President did handle my situation quickly I gave a very good rating!
My stay was great ! The place was clean , staff was nice and helpful . They provided breakfast with the stay and it was hot food options which is always a plus !
GGuest UserI was close to changing hotels prior to staying based on poor reviews, but decided because of the location we could deal with any issues that may have been unsatisfactory. Good thing we kept our reservations here as their wasn't anything unsatisfactory about the trip. The front desk team was very nice and quick to get more towels or anything needed. The Shower was amazing which consistently stayed hot and high water pressure for 4 of us to use back to back. The location is very convenient to all of the downtown activities. They have a shuffleboard table in the lobby that we played often. We went to the PS Speakeasy in the basement of the hotel that was nice. The Restaurant located on site was easy to get drinks at. Valet parking is $30-$35, but we self parked at the garage next door for $18 and easy to get to. The only comment I would make is I wish they had a pantry as we had $30 F&B credit per day, but did not get to use a days worth based on our flight schedule, it would have been nice to use it.
GGuest UserDarrell (shuttle driver) was the highlight of the stay. He was very personable, energetic and made our whole party feel welcome. The front desk team coud take some notes on hospitality from Darrell. The hotel is centrally located but the building is a little dated.
This property is the epitome of ājust OK.ā The rooms are rather small but mostly functional (bad water pressure). Service is very friendly and they even offer comp cookies. But there are little things that suggest somewhat lax attention to details like dysfunctional elevator lights, same debris in the stairwells for three days, etc. On the plus side the parking is free, breakfast is OK and the location seems safe. It's not within walking distance of anything but is reasonably close to the Plaza and the Crown Center. Nothing to write home about but an exceptional budget option.
AAllyson MPros: Thereās a bed, you can sleep in it. Door dash will deliver to your room. Cons: ā¢itās dirty, they have a new policy where if you donāt remove your items they wonāt clean the area. Dish in the sink? The whole kitchen is skipped over. ā¢The area is not great, itās noisy at night, from the busy road or from people who bring their dogs or children to stay here. ā¢itās cheap, the sheets on the bed feel like sleeping with a tissue, bring a heavier blanket to sleep with. The pillow cases arenātāt soft on your face either so bring a pillow too. ā¢inattentive staff. I hate to be that person I really do but the staff here really donāt get paid to assist you. Youāll be struggling to open their non automatic front door while pushing your luggage in and the people at the front desk wonāt even look at you. ā¢The WiFi. I stayed here through my school so the high speed wifi was provided for us. Itās extremely slow, to the point where I called the helpline to try to figure out why I couldnāt connect to the āhigh speed internetā I was paying for and was then told that I was in fact, already using it. EXTRAS: It usually smells pretty bad. The window to my room was broken and wouldnāt open. The bath faucet leaks. They only had two, very busted, luggage carts. āFree breakfastā is a lie, itās a basket of wrapped muffins by the front door. If you or people you are staying with have accessibility needs I would not stay here, none of the entrances are easily wheelchair accessible.
