Beware of Coral Building. Experienced excessive construction noise resulting to transfer to another unit. No washing machine and dryer inside the unit. Dated furnitures, lamp tables were sticky and dusty and had to call maintenance to fix our bathroom door.

Two units were booked. The front desk asked for our credit cards without advising that $200 was being taken out for "incidentals" despite an additional $40 per day charge for amenities (no option on this even if you don't use the amenities). The withdrawals from checking accounts were discovered 2 days later. When the front desk was called on this, the response was that "someone should have told us about the $200 incidentals fee". Both units were very hot making sleeping and other activities uncomfortable even with ceiling and floor fans at full speed. We weren't able to leave the windows/patio doors open as we were on the first floor. A portable air conditioner was put into one of the units (for an additional $125/week) but the other unit didn't have the right windows to vent the air conditioner. One unit was filthy - urine on the toilet and around the toilet base, linens smelled of body odor, dark food grease on the kitchen floor and refrigerator. The other unit had cockroaches, a laundry closet that stunk badly, and the kitchen floor hadn't been swept. Staff came to the unit with cockroach traps when the problem was reported, handing them to me and expecting me to place them around the unit. Another unit was requested, and the front desk attempted to charge an ADDITIONAL $200 for "incidentals" for this room. Their reasoning was that it was a "new room", and they didn't understand the problem since it would go back on my card in 5-10 business days. RCI should re-evaluate the gold crown status for this resort.

No AC, lower levels no breeze, cockroach in the room, 1 of the 2 rooms was FILTHY. Urine sprayed on the toilet and grease on the floors. Ridiculous $40/night add-on per room, and wanted to charge another $200 when I changed rooms due to the cockroach. AVOID!

We’ve been fortunate enough to visit this beautiful place every year, sometimes even twice a year, for the past 20 years, as our parents are owners. For us, it has always been a place of relaxation, where we can fully embrace the aloha spirit and island vibes. However, in recent years, we’ve noticed some changes that have impacted the overall experience. With the facility now renting units through various channels beyond timeshare ownership (and social media sites like TripAdvisor or yelp showing reviews) the atmosphere has shifted. Increasingly, each visit feels less like the tranquil escape it once was and more like a spring break destination. Groups at the pool are often loud and disruptive, bringing oversized floaters and showing little regard for the laid-back culture or consideration for others. Children frequently run around the pool and hot tub areas unsupervised, and quiet hours are often ignored. Additionally, the local rooster population has become increasingly disruptive, with crowing starting as early as 12:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the morning, and sometimes all day. While we don’t mind the lack of air conditioning, as it's generally not needed on the island, we’ve noticed an uptick in flies and bugs. This may be connected to the growing population of feral cats, which seem to be reducing the number of lizards and geckos that normally help keep insects in check. Staff are friendly, sweet and very helpful. We continue to cherish this place and want to see it preserved as the peaceful, welcoming retreat it has always been. We hope these observations can help in maintaining the unique spirit and environment that make this place so special. If the resort is looking to shift from Kauai island vibes to more Oahu, Cancun vibes that’s fine, I just think it will end up losing all its owners- who initially bought and have invested in Kauai lifestyle.

I have stayed here many times over the years. Resort is clean and rooms are spacious. Did I mention the views? I prefer Banyan and Alii buildings. Love having laundry right in my room. With 3 pools to choose from pool time is great. Always seem to score a chair by the pool. Sunsets at LBR are breathtaking! Headed back again in 2026! Aloha!

The view was quite honestly great and the best part of the room. I read other reviews mentioning having an updated, spotless room but that definitely was not ours. It had very old appliances, carpeting and everything else. The doors to the lanai were also the nicest part of the room we were in. The lack of A/C would have been more tolerable if the room was updated. We ended up leaving and went to another resort to finish our vacation. Definitely NOT a gold star room or resort.

We were assigned in Coral Bldg which only has 1 restroom for 2 Bedrooms it’s not optimal if you have 4-6 people, no AC, old furniture, higher resort fees for what you actually get. No washer/ dryer in units. On a positive note… location is ocean front.

My all time favorite resort on the island. Beautifully maintained great views & awesome staff. Been coming here since they were built & family purchased timeshare.
