The Hosteller Kareri

I stayed in the Hosteller, Kareri for a week - easily the most enjoyable, fulfilling trip I have had for a while. The property is right next to the main road, so it's easy to find and settle down quickly. The property is thoughtfully built, with both dormitories and private rooms, and a wonderful rooftop space/cafe with a splendid view of the Dhauladhars, and the rooftop includes a spacious cabin space where you can park yourself for hours. The private room is well-equipped with great views and a balcony space, so one never feels closeted. The owners of this property (Ishan Byotra and Ishan Sharma) were super-hospitable and helped us immensely - whether it was with our travel plans, getting us familiar with the trails and treks of Kareri, and much more. Rajeev and the staff were always available and helpful, catering to our every request with alacrity. We made good friends with everyone - owners, staff, guests - making the trip feel like a holiday with a large group of close friends. Kareri is a sweet spot - far enough for you enjoy a few pristine views and trails, but with just enough folks to socialise with if you wish to, and an hour's drive from Dharamshala if you would like to go to the city. One can easily go for the Kareri trek, hike down to the stream and waterfall spots, or just go for a pleasant walk up the mountain road. Overall - a superb holiday that had a bit of everything - and the wonderful folks at Hosteller made this all the more marvellous. Highly recommended to anyone wishing to spend a few days in the mountains.

Kareri Village has the most amazing views and is quiet and very peaceful. We stayed at The Hosteller at Kareri which is a gem within the village. Completely new and modern, beautiful and clean rooms with everything you need (dorm rooms are wonderful as well), gorgeous view from our bedroom windows and from the cool rooftop. The food is delicious and freshly cooked at your request. On top of it all, the staff here is awesome, young and very kind. Ishan took great care of us, helping with taxis, getting a tour guide for Kareri Lake Trek and all that we needed for the trek itself. I think it's a great place to stay whether you're a backpacker, a couple or a group of friends traveling together. I highly recommend staying here!
