Disappointing Stay at a Marriott Property – Poor Housekeeping & Communication We stayed at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel for 3 nights in June 2025, and it was unfortunately the worst hotel experience of our entire Hawaii trip. Despite being a Marriott property, the room was never cleaned during our entire stay. We checked in on June 6 and noticed the coffee machine was broken on the 7th. We assumed housekeeping would handle it—but nothing was cleaned or fixed. When I called the front desk, I was told housekeeping is only available every other day—something that was never mentioned at check-in. By the 8th night, the room was still a mess, the coffee machine still broken, and the shower had flooded the bathroom floor due to poor design. We also noticed a dead bug on the lamp that stayed with us throughout the trip and a malfunctioning AC monitor that made adjusting the temperature impossible. I tried to raise these concerns again when we checked out early on the 9th. The front desk apologized and said they’d follow up with a compensation plan—but it’s now been over a month with no response. That lack of follow-through is shocking from a Marriott. Even the concierge service—outsourced to a third party—was unhelpful. I strongly recommend not booking anything through them. This hotel was not the cheapest, but it was easily the worst value of all the places we stayed across Honolulu, Maui, and Big Island. I expect much better from Marriott and will think twice before booking with them again.

Good location Room is comfortable 

The location is good, right by the sea🏝️, there is a swimming pool at the door, and the sea is more than ten meters ahead. The sea water is crystal clear. There are special snorkeling and boating courses. There are many supermarkets around, ABC store is right at the door, and there are target and safeway not far away

There are various cafes and restaurants around the hotel, so I thought it was a great location. The room was clean, and the view from the room was great, with an ocean view! There is also a restaurant in the hotel, which we used when we came back a little late from sightseeing and the surrounding restaurants were closed. The menu had a wide variety of items, and the staff were very helpful.

The location is good and the beach is right in front so it was good for swimming. There are many restaurants around so you don't have to order hotel breakfast. Parking fee is charged separately.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the beach. There is a free bus at the door that goes directly to DT. It is very convenient for those who don't rent a car. The hotel front desk service is also very good. There is also a swimming pool for guests to use. The disadvantage is that this hotel is cleaned once every two days. If you have food or other garbage, try to take it out by yourself, otherwise it will smell in hot weather. The hotel facilities are a bit old, so don't have too high expectations.

It's very close to the beach, but the beach is really small. I didn't go there. I just spent time in the hotel. The good thing is that you have to swipe your card to enter the hotel pool, so there are not many people. There are many travel agencies in the hotel, including parasail. There are also some cafes, and the smoothies in the smoothie shop are delicious. There is also an ABC that sells everything. But the hotel service is really ordinary. When we checked in, there were two children and luggage, and the waiter at the door didn't even help with the luggage. The room is not big, and the bathroom is like that of a business hotel. But it looks okay overall. There is a sofa bed, which is very suitable for family travel.

It's good, but the parking fee is expensive. It's in the center of Kona and close to Walmart. Overall, the hotels on the Big Island can't be compared with those in Honolulu.

On the last day of the Big Island, I chose Marriott, which is close to the airport and the gathering point for the stargazing group, and it is also convenient to take Uber. If the hotel has rooms, it will allow early check-in. The overall facilities are good. The rooms are standard, but the public areas are comfortable and beautiful. There is also an exhibition about the king in the lobby, and there is an ABC store downstairs, which is very convenient.
