Kaifeng Gulou District Hotels

Big, beautiful room but there was no window and no garden view. I booked the family room since I was traveling with my nephew. However, there was no wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. The doors to the shower and bathroom were glass. The hotel staff were friendly. The location was not ideal and its very dark around the hotel.

Our family checked into the hotel on May 2, 2025. We stayed in room 219, a superior twin room with two 1.35-inch beds, which were very comfortable. Next, let me talk about the experience. Turn right and 50 meters away you will find the famous Xisi Night Market (excellent, a must-go at night), Bao Gong Temple (so-so, I don't recommend buying a ticket to see it), and the shared electric bikes are just across the road from the hotel. It takes 17 minutes to ride to Wansui Mountain Wuxia City and 13 minutes to Qingming Riverside Park. It is very convenient, but if you leave the scenic area at 10:30 pm, there may be no shared bikes. Enjoy the bicycle. The hotel breakfast is OK. If you don't want to eat the hotel breakfast, turn left and 50 meters away from the hotel. There is a breakfast shop (Hu spicy soup, beef pie, leek egg pie, oil cake, steamed buns are especially delicious. Many people eat here in the morning. Hu spicy soup is 5 yuan and 8 yuan, and the price of pie is 3-5 yuan each, which is very large). The hotel is quiet in the bustling city. The windows are 4 layers of glass and very quiet. I slept well at night and would not be woken up until 9 o'clock in the morning. The hotel room was newly renovated in 2025 and the facilities are very new. Although the room is not too big, it is enough. The price in Kaifeng is very cheap. The price of civilian mineral water in Wansuishan Wuxia City is 1.5 yuan, and the price of mineral water in Qingming Shanghe Park is a little more expensive, 3 yuan. The hotel is located near the Drum Tower in Kaifeng, and its location isn't difficult to find. From the first floor, I thought it was a small business hotel, but I went up to the fourth floor and discovered it occupies the entire floor. It's spacious, with trendy and stylish decor and plenty of rooms. The lobby reception also serves as a small bar, with a workstation nearby. There's also an arcade game machine and other entertainment options. The hotel also has a small gym, and the laundry room is fully stocked with laundry detergent, softener, and disinfectant, as well as a small drying rack. Facilities: The room is quite large and clearly divided. The entrance area is for washing and sanitation, and the washbasin is located outside, alongside the dressing table. It's spacious enough for plenty of items and comes with hand soap and laundry detergent. The adjacent drying rack is open, perfect for drying clothes. The bathroom has separate wet and dry areas, with a spacious shower and toilet, and a smart toilet. The bed is large and comfortable, with a choice of soft and firm pillows, a very thoughtful touch. Further back is the lounge area with a large sofa. The room amenities can be voice-controlled using a smart device, which is very convenient. Cleanliness: The hotel is newly renovated, so there's no odor. The room was quite clean, and the staff promptly handled the changes and trash. Environment: There's a large supermarket diagonally across from the hotel, and numerous shops are nearby, making shopping and dining very convenient. Taxis are readily available, and there are plenty of shared electric bikes and bicycles for transportation. The nearby Drum Tower Night Market is very lively in the evenings. Service: The friendly staff at the front desk were very welcoming and had lovely smiles. They even gave us a free breakfast coupon on our first day. 💕 This is the first time I've stayed in a business hotel that offers excellent value for money, comparable to some large chain business hotels.

The hotel is close to the Drum Tower Night Market and not far from Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden, Xiangguo Temple, and the Shanxi-Shaanxi-Gansu Guild Hall. It's very convenient for dining and exploring the night market. The hotel environment is nice, the accommodations are comfortable, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the hotel is clean. For families, convenience is key. The First Floor Soup Dumplings restaurant is right next door, making it very convenient. After dinner, you can take a boat ride on the Bian River, and in the evening, you can stroll through the city wall night market – a perfect combination!

The room is quite large and the overall decoration is very design-oriented. The Drum Tower of Qingming Shanghe Park is right next to it. My child and I can walk directly there, which is very convenient. ✨ The hotel details are really perfect: some small details are particularly good, such as the free mini bar, smart toilet, and pet-friendly ~ Although the breakfast variety is not particularly large, it tastes very good, especially the local snacks, which are very authentic and the children also like it very much. In short, I am very satisfied ~

Location: The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a 10-minute walk from both Drum Tower Night Market and Daxiangguo Temple, and less than a 15-minute walk from Kaifeng Government Office. It's a quiet haven amidst the bustling city. Service: The front desk staff and security guards were incredibly friendly and helpful, always proactively greeting guests and inquiring about our needs. There's also an adorable resident cat, reportedly a stray adopted by the hotel, which has a very gentle disposition. Facilities: My only constructive feedback is that the room's decor and facilities are quite dated; a renovation would definitely improve the guest experience. On a positive note, I really liked the American-style decor in the lobby – it's perfect for taking photos and relaxing. A computer is also available for guest use.

This is the most cost-effective hotel with particularly warm service I have ever stayed in, especially the front desk staff Xiao Zhang who personally led me to the room and gave me some local specialties before I left. He also helped me upgrade the room I stayed in with my parents and asked if I could delay my check-out until the afternoon. This is the first time I brought my parents to Kaifeng and they had a very good impression of it. The antique decoration was specially selected, the internal facilities are very new, the toilet curtains and so on are all smart, and I was given free small fruits when I came back from going out in the afternoon. I was really surprised by the cost-effectiveness of Kaifeng Hotel.

Overall, it's pretty good. The location is in the center of Kaifeng. It's reasonable to say that it's a three-star hotel. I got a free room upgrade! The only drawbacks are that there's not enough toilet paper in the bathroom, and the water for the shower is either very hot or very cold, and the temperature is not constant. The breakfast is just average, but it's acceptable for a free breakfast. Overall, it's OK!

My stay in Kaifeng this time completely exceeded my expectations – I absolutely have to give it a perfect rating! The hotel's location is truly unbeatable. It's right in the heart of the ancient city, making it incredibly convenient to explore attractions and visit historic local establishments. Many places are within easy walking distance, so there's no need to waste time navigating. The cleanliness was another pleasant surprise. The room was impeccably tidy and spotless, and both the bedding and bathroom were sparkling clean and fresh. It made for a truly comfortable stay. We drove ourselves, and the fact that the hotel has its own private parking was a massive bonus! Even though it was a short walk from the hotel, it was infinitely more convenient than trying to find temporary parking within the ancient city. Parking up and walking back to the hotel was a breeze, completely eliminating any parking stress. What's more, there's an abundance of dining options right around the hotel. If you're looking for some local specialties in the evening, you'll find plenty of restaurants just a short walk downstairs. Absolutely delightful! Next time I'm in the ancient city, this will definitely be my top choice for accommodation again.
