"The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a 10-minute walk to the harbor and market. Hobart isn't very big, so it's perfectly walkable for sightseeing. There's on-site parking available, which is convenient for those driving. The front desk staff were very efficient. Our booked room was in the building across from the front desk entrance. Overall, this renovated old building offers a very unique hotel experience. The duplex room had a large bed upstairs and another large bed in a separate room downstairs. Plus, there were two toilets downstairs, which was incredibly convenient. The bathrooms were very new and clean, and towels were changed daily. There were no slippers or toothbrushes, but shampoo and body wash were provided. There's also a separate laundry room. If you want to cook, there's a kitchen available too. Overall, I was very satisfied and would recommend it to other friends."

"The stay here was in perfect location to the wharf and the Salamanca Market. I did have some privacy concerns with the studio apartment such as being able to see into the bedroom from the shared balcony as well as the frosted bathroom window."

"If you're not driving, choose very carefully! The hotel's location on a hillside made dragging our luggage an absolute nightmare – just like it was for us! The only things we were happy with were the nice views, the lovely yard, and the acceptable facilities. However, it's still far from hotel standards, as it's essentially a private guesthouse. We couldn't find anyone to check out in the morning. Now, for the important part!!! The guesthouse owner has strict limits on the number of guests, but the hotel's website doesn't clearly state the extra charges for additional people. We felt the price they quoted us for a last-minute additional guest was unreasonable, which made us unwilling to stay. Yet, not a single penny of the room fee was refunded – basically, you *have* to accept their terms. We originally booked a room for two people. A day before, we paid an extra AUD 130 to upgrade to a suite for three, but it was actually for two adults and two children. In the end, we were refused the suite because it could only accommodate three people. We then paid an additional AUD 400 just to switch to a different room type, which meant not staying in the main building. This negotiation took up an entire afternoon and completely disrupted our travel plans. So, I highly recommend hotels in downtown Hobart; we stayed for 5 days and they were genuinely good. There's no need to bother with these self-proclaimed private hotels or guesthouses."

"Great location very close to CBD with free onsite parking and nice view. Very friendly reception staff. Just one comment about kitchen facilities - it'll be fair to mention limited shared kitchen in the Trip.com description as it opens only after 9.30am and closes early too. When the feature says kitchen, it has to be a kitchen, not with restricted one. Thanks."

"The hotel is retro and old. If you like the old house, it is recommended to have no brains. We have been off work at the front desk when we check in. The reception door phone will get the password of the password box. Open the password box and take your room key to check in. The parking space and the room number correspond to the corresponding parking space. Some parking spaces have high parking technical requirements. The hotel rooms are large, well-equipped, clean and tidy, with beautiful scenery and good weather overlooking the Wellington Peak and Hobart."

"The location is very good. From the airport, take the first stop of the bus and walk to the hotel. You can buy food and cook in the supermarket on the pedestrian street, which is very convenient. There are many places to eat on the pedestrian street."

"The decor was dated and could do with refreshing...ie curtains, carpet. The fixed heater did not work but there was a portable one that did. The door handle needs to be made more secure. The heater switch above the bathroom door needs to be tidied up. There was no soap in dispenser above the bath but filled to when asked. The pillows provided and spares were all too big for us. The bed was comfortable and the room was very spacious which was good. There was plenty of hanging space and drawers to use. Tv and fridge worked well. The parking spaces were a bit too narrow imo. Despite my pointers I would still recommend The Mayfair if the price is competitive."
