Anvil Hotel

Stayed here for 2 nights in spring 2025, great staff and clean rooms, would definitely stay again. My only criticism, and this is being picky, I was close to reception on an upper floor and where the gangways outside of the rooms are wooden the noise from fellow travelers walking past can get annoying, so ask for a room away from reception.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights at the Anvil in room 305 or 306. It was on the recommended hotels from the wedding invitation we were in town for. Upon check in I was assigned to a room not at the main hotel. It was around the corner and down a small alley. The building is old and it appears to have been given a fresh coat of paint inside, but that's about it. The room was maybe 10x10 with very low ceilings and not much light. There was a single window AC unit that was very close to the bed and loud, so I had to shield myself with a pillow to keep the air from blasting me as we slept. The bathroom and shower were very small (the shower was about the size of an RV shower). You had to turn the water off to apply soap and lather. Then when you turn the water back on, you are hit for a few seconds of cold water, which my wife really disliked. The bathroom light/ fan combo worked sometimes. There was also no mini fridge so I was not able to chill any drinks, bottled water for the day. The location is very good being directly in the middle of downtown Jackson so you are able to walk. We rented a Jeep which I had to park on the street for 2 nights since there are not enough parking spaces. I assumed this would be a nicer place for $450-$500 a night, but I guess Jackson real estate is expensive. I would stay at another location if I went back.
