This time, I booked a deluxe ocean view room at a hotel just behind Hagia Sofia in the old city of Istanbul.
According to the hotel's rules, check-in was from 2 p.m., but I was only able to check in at 3:40 p.m., and to my surprise, I was guided to a different hotel from the one I booked, and the room was a terrible room with a wall view and no view of the sea at all. In Japan, this would be considered fraud.
There was trash in the room, and the number of amenities was insufficient, so I think it was probably left as it was by the previous guest.
The shower in the room was also wobbly and seemed like it was about to collapse from the bathroom wall at any moment, so it was scary to touch and was not usable properly.
When I told the hotel, they said, "The shower is broken! Thank you for letting me know. We will send a staff member to check it right away," but in the end no one came...
I have traveled all over the world using Trip.com, but to put it mildly, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.
I contacted customer service immediately and they dealt with the issue in various ways, but the hotel on the Turkish side had no intention of improving in the first place, and it felt like discrimination against Asians.
I am very disappointed that my first post after traveling so much has turned out like this, but I will leave a record for the benefit of future travelers.
