Macdonald Drumossie Hotel

Evening event dinner was at best poor. Starter which should have been hot was cold, main course just warm, the desert had run out by the time our table was served.  The hotel toilets were in need of an attendant checking regularly .  We ended up laughing about it with references to faulty towers.  However our room was beautiful, clean, well presented, the bed was very comfortable.  We had a great night sleep.  At breckfast the arm of my chair was loose and lifted up when I would go to move my chair in/out from the table.  When I was looking around the continental breckfast counter I could hear a male member of the kitchen staff shouting and swearing using the F word, not at all what I expected from any Hotel.  Lasting impression I would not rush back.

This hotel is a sad sign of lack of investment. A little out of town, this hotel could be somewhat of a gem, however when my partner & I arrived, we were greeted by reception but pretty much left to it thereafter. Welcome didn’t seem particularly warm, and neither did the hotel. Tired staircase decor & narrow dark corridors are a feature. On entering the room, we were met with a stale smell, which soon left once we opened the windows, however as the wind was getting up outside we closed the windows over. During the evening, as we were on the top floor we didn’t get much sleep due to the constant creaking of the dorma windows / roof. The room is equipped with an early 2000’s lcd tv, which had a great sound, but poor quality picture. The bathroom was well equipped, however mirror was hanging off the wall, mould in the shower tray & was generally unclean. Breakfast in the morning was ok, but the staff seemed upset to be there, and the supervisor equally so & could learn to smile. We wouldn’t be in a rush to go back & I’m assuming most guests would feel the same. Time for some quality checks to be done!

Our group was incredibly welcomed at Drumossie. All guests were individually catered for. All our rooms were large, very comfortable very clean and a delight. Our supper was beautifully presented, served well and tasted delicious. Breakfast gave us lots of choices and again all staff were very courteous and kind Thank you for making us all so welcome

Had a wonderful stay at the Hotel. The staff were warm and welcoming, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Good food, excellent breakfast and lovely surroundings. Good place for a venue and events. Not my first visit and will happily return in the future!
