Jacobite House

We were excited to spend two nights at Jacobite House in Inverness as part of our honeymoon, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. The main issue was the bed, which had two large holes under the blanket. It was so misshapen that we couldn't move comfortably during the night and woke up with sore backs. We emailed the management immediately, but their only solution was to move us to another room—without letting us check the bed beforehand, which did not give us any reassurance. In the end, we left after just one night. They refunded the second night but refused to compensate us for the extremely uncomfortable and sleepless night we had. Other issues included: Excessive street noise from nearby pubs until late, making it impossible to sleep (earplugs were not provided). Non-functioning socket in the room. Unreliable Wi-Fi. Dirty conditions—dust on the toilet fan, general lack of cleanliness, and bird droppings on the window that looked like they’d been there for days. We also spoke to other guests who saw the condition of the bed and agreed it was unacceptable—they even offered to act as witnesses. What made it worse was the management’s dismissive response. We explained how stressful this was for us—it was our honeymoon, we had to change plans last minute, rebook trains, find storage for our bags, and spend time and money using international roaming—but they stood by their refusal to offer any compensation beyond refunding the second night. The location is central, yes—but that’s about the only good thing we can say. We do not recommend this accommodation and would strongly advise travellers, especially those looking for a comfortable and reliable stay, to look elsewhere.

I have nothing but great things to say about my stay here. Its location is great, the rooms are clean and modern, and the bathrooms are spacious and also clean. The shared kitchen is so spacious and great. My only thing is checking in was a bit unclear, was sent the instructions (there's no reception or staff on site). But eventually got inside. If you're not great with technology, this probably isn't the place for you as the doors all have codes you need to input for access. Also, something to note: there's no lift (for me, that wasn't an issue, but if you have a lot of luggage... good luck😅). Speaking of, you can leave your luggage in the shared kitchen if needed on check-in or check out, which is good, but everyone does come and go, so I wouldn't put valuables in here. Overall fantastic stay. Walls were thick, and you couldn't hear neighbours much. It's in a fantastic location, easy to walk everywhere.

Beautiful and unique hotel! This was a gem! We loved the location on church street, which made us close to Inverness dining and shopping. The rooms had recently been renovated (evidently earlier in 2024) and everything was truly well-done and beautiful. We appreciated the common living room and kitchen, in addition to our private en-suite room. The king bed was quite comfortable, and the room was quite large (compared to other UK rooms from our trip). This hotel, naturally, does not provide breakfast, but there are breakfast places nearby. We even had breakfast delivered easily to us one morning.

Excellent set-up for budget-conscious traveler. Location is in the heart of the city, convenient to shopping and transportation. Easy to explore city from there. Only suggestion is to make arrival instructions a little clearer, since there is no registration desk. Instructions say, "the lockboxes that have your room Key is to your right on the fire exit door." The lock boxes are actually on an inside wall, behind the fire door. The door appears locked and has a sign that says keep closed. It took me several frustrating minutes to figure out that I had to open the door to get to the lock boxes.
