"This stay at inatori got to be one of the best decisions made. The room came with an absolutely stunning sea view which made this trip from the bustling city worth it!! You need to add the breakfast and dinner to your package too because the food served are top quality and so so delicious. We ate till we were stuffed every single night!! There’s no other hotel that come close to this amazing experience we had here. We also enjoyed the private onsen which can be booked by paying +$$ As the place is very much catered to local tourists, most of the menu, instructions are in Japanese, so just use your translator app if you have any questions! They do have staff who can speak English / mandarin!"

"Paid a fortune for a hotel that was utterly ordinary. The breakfast and dinner were all show – fancy-looking dishes with no real substance or flavor. I can't understand why they charge such high room rates. The room itself was old, and there were so many mosquitoes I couldn't sleep a wink. The in-room hot spring was just an old, small, tiled bathtub. Aside from the hot spring, there were no other facilities to enjoy. In all my years of traveling, this is the first time I've ever booked a hotel with such terrible value for money. If it were around 2000 RMB a night, it might be acceptable, but anything more is completely not worth it. Everything was subpar except for the good service."

"We were extremely satisfied with our stay at this hotel in Atagawa. Every corner of the hotel was thoughtfully decorated, and the staff were very welcoming. The same young man handled both check-in and check-out, and we communicated fluently in English throughout. He provided detailed information, and since we hadn't booked dinner, he proactively recommended several nearby restaurants and local specialties. We even tried the nearby restaurants ”Nishiki” and ”Oboro.” He was especially considerate when we checked out, offering to drive us to the station – a very thoughtful gesture. During our stay, we also enjoyed the two outdoor onsen rooms on the third floor. Soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves was truly relaxing. I highly recommend experiencing this hotel in Atagawa."

"A quiet onsen town, with traditional Japanese rooms. It's slowly becoming commercialized, and fewer places offer dinner and breakfast served in your room these days. This stay, however, was a great experience. Since it was our anniversary, the staff even arranged for us to have a pair of mandarin ducks in our room. They took photos of us and gifted them to us at check-out, which was a lovely touch. We visited on a weekday, so the public bath felt almost like a private one. Enjoying the public bath all to ourselves, gazing at the ocean and listening to the waves, was incredibly relaxing. The hotel's shuttle bus is super convenient, getting guests to Izu-Atagawa Station in just a minute."

"This stay offered the quintessential, meticulous Japanese service. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and proactively helped with our luggage. We also enjoyed exquisite welcome desserts and matcha while checking in. The room had a fantastic open view, with a blend of lush greenery and ocean vistas. We even got to witness a sliver of sunrise in the morning (though it was cloudy on the day of our stay, so we only saw a peek). The ryokan provides an 'in-room dining' (heyashoku) service, where staff thoughtfully arrange and deliver incredibly elaborate breakfast and dinner spreads right to your room – a true feast for the senses. Of course, the most perfect experience of this trip was undoubtedly the private open-air onsen attached to our room. Soaking in the hot spring while gazing at the unbeatable ocean view was pure bliss! Although the ryokan also has two public open-air baths, the scenery there was comparatively unremarkable, and there were quite a few insects around dusk, so we only stayed for a short dip. Overall, the private in-room onsen experience was impeccable."

"The best accommodation experience for this trip to the east and west coasts of central Japan. Japanese-style rooms, tatami mats, large space, quiet, nice views from the window, a rich breakfast buffet, two kinds of raw fish taste good, hot springs are refreshing, and free noodle soup at night. "This is a charmingly rustic onsen hotel. The room doors even have old-fashioned doorknobs. I booked a renovated, newer room type for one night, which featured separate shower and toilet areas. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the station; I saw staff holding the hotel's sign before I even left the station exit. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by staff. Check-in was smooth, with the front desk patiently explaining everything. The sixth floor provides tea and snacks at certain times of the day. Dinner was quite good; knowing we were Chinese guests, they specially arranged for a Chinese-speaking attendant. He was very enthusiastic, introducing each dish, and the ingredients were fresh. The main course, pan-fried alfonsino, was delicious. The bathhouse is large and includes outdoor pools, and the onsen water is excellent and very relaxing. In the evenings, there are local citrus jellies in a small fridge by the bathhouse entrance – a perfect treat after a soak. Breakfast was also very extensive. If you're doing an in-depth tour of Izu, staying here for two nights (I believe staying two consecutive nights also includes a complimentary lunch) is an excellent choice before heading further south. Afterward, you can take the shuttle back to Izu-Nagaoka Station. Previous reviews mentioned some guests feeling discriminated against as Chinese visitors, but I didn't experience that. As for stuffy rooms or strong smells, it's pretty common for older Japanese-style hotel rooms to have the natural scent of cypress, bamboo, and tatami mats. I believe only the fourth floor has renovated rooms with separate bathrooms. I personally can't stand showers with bathtubs, so I specifically looked into it, and soon after, Trip.com offered upgraded room options. Yes, the restaurant did have a slight cooking smell, but it was tolerable. In short, for guests who are very particular and demanding, Izu might not be the best choice, as there are very few international luxury hotels here. I hope this review is helpful to others. Some small surprises are best experienced for yourselves!"

"If you don't mind the aging of the facilities and the lack of cleanliness, and only prioritize the ocean view, feel free to book this hotel. The stunning ocean view, visible from the curtains, is its biggest advantage. While it's not cheap, it's not expensive in that area. Before booking, I knew this was a very old hotel, and other guests had mentioned the grimy windows, but I still booked it because I valued the stunning ocean view. After checking in, I felt that even a first-tier ocean view couldn't offset the negative experience I had with the basics and hygiene. For example, the washbasin leaked very slowly, and after washing my face, all the foamy water would accumulate in the basin, taking a long time to drain out, making it look filthy. The bathtub, on the other hand, was a complete waste; I didn't dare use it. There were all sorts of unidentified marks on the low table in the room. I suspect it was from guests dining in the room with two meals a night. There was also an unidentified odor in the room, a bit like cigarettes but not quite, possibly related to the dining experience. We had three beds, two single beds, and a mattress on the other. The quilt was a floral quilt, a rare sight in China. The fabric was poor quality, and most importantly, it made me itch when I used it. I guess it hadn't been cleaned in ages and had simply been piled up in the guest room closet. The quilt on the single bed was the hotel's standard solid-color quilt, so my husband and I shared the single bed for both nights. Also, I don't know if there was rust or something inside the water dispenser; I was afraid to drink the water after seeing it. Let's talk about the service. When I checked in, I saw an elderly man and woman at the front desk who were probably over 80 years old. We communicated with each other through translation software. Check-in went smoothly, but I booked a standard double room with four tatami mats and no bed. I didn't want a bed, but I was still assigned a room with a bed. This was considered an upgrade, but no one told me about this. I didn't want to embarrass the elderly man and woman, so I didn't mention it to them. When I checked out, I told the front desk that I needed a shuttle bus. I saw the front desk went to find a colleague, and it turned out that the elderly man was washing coffee cups. He dropped his work and took us to Atagawa Station. So although there were few waiters, I felt the service was okay those two days."

"I booked a standard sea-view room and made a reservation in advance, so the hotel arranged a shuttle bus to pick us up from and drop us off at Izu-Inatori Station. To be honest, the room was a bit old and the hygiene was just so-so, but the half-board (dinner and breakfast) was absolutely amazing! There was a wide variety of sashimi, lobster soup, shabu-shabu with pork and matcha-infused broth, and a whole stewed splendid alfonsino – super satisfying! Even the cheesecake for dessert was delicious! Breakfast was equally exquisite and abundant, with both Japanese and Western options. We ate to our heart's content. As for the hot springs, there are two baths, and I highly recommend the open-air bath on the 5th floor. From 5 AM, you can soak in the hot spring while watching the sunrise over the ocean, and I had it all to myself – it was incredibly refreshing 🌅"
