Sobetsu Hotels with Wifi

"Booked a room with private onsen and shared amongst 3 friends. There is valet parking upon arrival, and complimentary drinks and simple snacks at the welcome lounge between 3-10pm. They had a harpist perform at the lounge and dinner sometimes, it was very peaceful! Room was nice and comfortable, facing a nice view of lake Toya. Would have liked to be even closer to the lake as it turns out there is a field between the hotel and the lake. Temperature and size of private onsen js good, room facilities also great. Breakfast and dinner was wonderful, for dinner they serve a 6-7 course French styled meal on both nights made by Japanese ingredients. They had western and Japanese main plate options for breakfast with a buffet alongside too. Choices were plentiful and delicious. Staff generally very courteous and helpful, we had an issue with the hot water in our shower which they work very hard to fix. There was a random incident where one of the staff Yusaku was very rude to us at the Lumiere restaurant, he pretended not to understand English when taking our order for tea/ coffee, and even challenged us when we asked for lemon in tea, he said ‘what colleague?’ And ‘you want a piece of tea?’. Completely unacceptable for a hotel like this. The rest of the staff were nothing like that."

"It's a great B&B-style hotel. The grandmother with great skin gave me a lake view room with a small living room. I arrived early because it was raining and was allowed to stay. The dinner that comes with the one-night stay and two-meals package is very delicious. The miso soup with small scallops is super fresh, and the venison stewed in red wine is also very tender and has no fishy smell. When I left the next day, I asked my grandma for a big garbage bag to pack my luggage, and I rode all the way to Hakodate without getting it wet."

"Pros: big room, good lake views, big hotel, big restaurant and effective seating plan by staff, you don't need to wait long to get seated, good clean public bath areas, friendly front desk and car parking staff. Con: non existent WiFi, they don't implement password so they run out of IP addresses and guests can't connect, all three days we could not connect to the hotel WiFi, same food spread every meal, frozen or canned fruits served, gaudy room deco (needs updating badly!), a lot of walking as rooms are far from the elevators, only the public onsen bath is good, all the rest of the amenities must oay extra, there's a ******* looking abandoned house opposite the hotel."

"For just one night, I chose the most affordable hotel in Lake Toya. I wasn't expecting much, but the room was clean. The receptionist spoke good English and was very polite. The public baths were also okay."
