Hotel is a bit tired but Ilfracombe is a bit tired too so well done to owners for surviving at all. Staff very friendly and helpful and hotel oozes atmosphere and was obviously once very swish. Admiral Nelson's favourite room overlooks the harbour and the view from the bed of room 26 is stunning. Food was good value and breakfast very good (but they need different orange juice as it's cheap rubbish). Parking was £2.50 for 24 hours in nearby carpark so no problem with that. Ilfracombe is not Monte Carlo and in November even less so, but there's still stuff to do. The Museum is small but VERY interesting, and there are various walks along cliffs and beside the harbour etc. Frankly, one night is probably enough but still enjoyable and Royal Brittania is perfect for that. Only complaint (apart from the crap orange juice) is we couldn't get the TV to work and no staff around to help. Otherwise it was great. But try to book Room 26 where view from the bed is stunning.

We booked this hotel because it was cheap and we now know why. The room was small but the bathroom was very tight with nowhere to put anything. Very narrow stairs to get to room. On the harbour, so good position. No parking but public car park not too far away and not too expensive. Nearby Weatherspoons for cheap pint. Clean and tidy and in the main well maintained. Staff friendly and helpful. Overall, it's fine for a one nighter but not for longer. Ilfracombe is a run-down dump, by the way, so not for staying longer anyway. So, in a way, well done to the hotel owners for surviving in that town.

Visited pub for a drink and a game of pool. Pub has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Rustic traditional decor with a lovely seating area outside overlooking the harbour. Pool table and if you’re lucky Dave and Deidre will beat you at a couple of games. Would visit again

Great opportunity to have a lovely harbour side experience sat on the hotel terrace. Terrace was unclean and tables marked and sticky. We ordered a baked potato which arrived cold. And ham egg and chips - chips were ‘ok’ - quite dry. Egg was ok. Ham cannot be described as ham. More like rough overcooked 5 day old bacon with a disturbing green sheen to it. We did get a refund but no apology - it clearly didn’t matter and didn’t seem unusual. Will not return

We had a voucher as a wedding present and booked our lunch in this hotel as we were on holiday in Ilfracombe. Apart from the lady behind the bar who apparently was the only one working, the whole experience was third rate. Hotel very tired, no proper dining room with laid tables, the food was abysmal. Glutinous rice, inedible sweet and sour chicken,. Minute swordfish ‘steak’ so dry , long long wait for desert, jam roll and custard so dry again unable to eat.the other desert had been hanging around so long the custard had a thick skin. SO disappointing both for us and our voucher giver.

This is our second visit and it won't be our last. The hotel has wonderful friendly staff is spotlessly clean and the views over the harbour are lovely. Not to mention the breakfasts that are fleshly cooked and delicious. The town is just waking up for the summer and summer parking charges apply which stings at £10 for 24 hours. But this is a lovely hotel we'll worth a visit.

Advertising as Hotel but a pub. Bad state of room,grubby dusty uncleaned, bathroom grubby, black and didn't look like it had be cleaned before last guest, No owners to complain too. No body taking responsibility for the rooms. Breakfast OK but basic, wouldn't go back.

Excellent. Great room, stunning views and location. Service fantastic. The gentleman at reception was extremely wonderful and gave us an amazing upgrade. He was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay.
Will definitely recommend this hotel. Thanks kind Sir for a wonderful stay.
