Overall wonderful stay. Very peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Environment was beautiful with all the foliage, and especially love the Gorge Hike, highlight of our stay. Only criticisms would the beds are not the most comfortable I have experienced at a resort of this calibre, don't call your wine "experience" and experience if all it is is a tasting, the sommelier wine tasting was too much discussion on history and labels and not enough on the wines that were in front of us, and food at the Audubon at dinner was a little lackluster for the price, though definitely go in for desert as that was exceptional.

Overall, a great experience. The place is beautiful and there's lots to do at the resort. Service was perfect everywhere except at the grab and go market. Dining choices are limited. We had not made dinner reservations ahead of our visit and couldn't get a seat for dinner. Even the casual places were packed. They need more restaurant choices. The grab and go market has limited options. I strongly recommend a visit to the warm springs pool! So relaxing and not expensive, as opposed to some of the other spa treatments, which are extremely overpriced. Lots of hiking trails close by

The experience was mediocre at best and disappointing. Having just come from a quaint little inn the night prior, the service here was impersonal, there were no special touches, the food was ok. One of the elevators was broken. The wallpaper and carpet was in disrepair. The working elevator was filthy. instead of providing working equipment for our room when brought to their attention, the front desk acted like it would be a huge inconvenience to them. Also, you have to walk down to the front desk as you cannot call them from your room. The staff was very apathetic upon check-in, check-out and when issues were raised regarding problems with our room. The valet are the friendliest folks there. While using the outdoor pool and jacuzzi staff began cleaning it with chemicals and hoses literally while I was in it but not skimming it to get the dead bugs out floating in the water. Why was this not done before the pool opened? The dinner restaurant and spa were full quite a bit in advance so that was unavailable. We came for my husband’s birthday. Absolutely zero interest on the part of the hotel to even recognize this. The donuts with rave reviews were mediocre. We also tried their candies. I spit mine out. They should call See’s Candies for some advice. The food at the golf club did not come out right. We were overcharged (I brought this to the attention of the very busy staff and she did adjust it.) There was no point in asking them to fix or remake the food as they were overwhelmed as it was and it was just a regular lunch crowd. The bed and bedding was ok. The pillows were terrible. The bathroom was beyond cramped and not very clean with orange mildew in the shower. Everything had a charge associated with it. At the price point paid one would think some things would be included in the “resort fee.” They didn’t even offer us beverages upon check-in. However this is clearly offered as people next to us in line were offered beverages on both the day we checked in and the day we checked out. I have had better service at a typical “hotel.” We have stayed at resorts all over the world. I doubt I would stay here again. We had time to add extra nights to our stay. We chose not to.

My has been and I went on a couples trip and it was beautiful and so relaxing! We love history, so the free history tour each morning was great. We enjoyed the nightly movie in the historic theater, got to tour the kitchen, float in the warm springs, and listening to the live music in the lobby around the fireplace was just what we needed. As a bonus the food was fabulous! Make sure you try the cinnamon and sugar donuts they make in the pastry kitchen on site!

This historic hotel was filled with charm and character. The renovation was done well, but some changes are questionable. Most of the changes maintained the historic value and story of the hotel. The staff are all amazing and made the stay welcoming. The warm springs is off site, but there is a shuttle service offered to guests and is worth a visit. Our overall stay was memorable and if you have time take the guided tour of the hotel to learn its history.

there is very limited food choices. There is nothing around to be able to order food. There is also no room service. You can't order an uber or lyft and the shuttles don't come as often as they should. This place is in the middle of nowhere and very difficult to access.

Well, we did enjoy our time at the Homestead. There were a few drawbacks to our stay the wait times for the restaurants were ridiculous and the options for vegan dairy free were very few. We really enjoyed the warm pool. We went to play mini golf and nobody was there. A sign said to Contact someone from the pool, but when we went to the pool, there was no one there So that was disappointing. My son found a small clear container of about 30 pills in the desk drawer in our hotel room. The container just had an easily accessible lid that he could’ve taken off. Luckily, he knows better and to tell us about these things. That just seems very negligent of the cleaning staff. The fireworks on Saturday night were very cool and we enjoyed them.

The Homestead is a beautiful resort you must visit. From check in to check out, the staff are extremely professional and always courteous. The resort offers something for everyone, and the accommodations are glorious. We highly recommend a visit, you won't regret it!

My wife and I have stayed at the Homestead several times since the 'Grand Reopening' in October 2023, the Virginia Wine Tasting in May, 2024, and then our recent stay in October, 2024. During each "Premiere View" room stay we experienced hotel problems. 1. No hot water to shower, 2. Main dining-room HVAC system down for the expensive wine tasting dinner and food found left in room frig, 3. Tower elevators down requiring down & up stair climbing, floor 11 to 19. I am 74 years old. Frankly, my wife does not want to hear about visiting The Homestead.
