"Cool and high-class ryokan hotel. Optimal location for exploring Nikko and surrounding attractions, excellent service, clean and cool onsen with a variety of creams, which can be bought right there in the souvenir shop. Great and varied dinner and breakfast, inexpensive drinks. We stayed for 2 days and 4 meals were different on the menu. It was nice to receive gift coupons for souvenirs and alcohol at the hotel. View of the mountain river right from the room. Girls can choose a yukata of the color they like for their stay in the ryokan. It's cool that for the entire stay in the ryokan you are assigned one maid who feeds you and sees you off and helps deliver your luggage - you feel like you are visiting friends. The staff is great - very attentive, but not intrusive. The downsides are the slightly tired room, but not lacking traditional chic, old curtains, cold light in the room (personally not very pleasant for me, I would advise the hotel to think about replacing the lamps with 3000 Kelvin). I highly recommend the ryokan, the guys are trying."

"We stayed at the hotel in October 2024. We took a room for 8 people, there were four of us in it. Pros: 1. The room has almost everything you need, from a washing machine to a capsule coffee machine and your own grill. 2. Very comfortable pillows and futons. 3. There is a full set of accessories for dogs. 4. There is your own onsen. 5. Heated floors in the recreation area. 6. Parking for cars. 7. Balcony with a huge table. Cons: 0. Bad location. About 20 minutes walk from the station in the opposite direction from the attractions. The hotel is in a dark, remote place. There are not sidewalks everywhere on the way to the hotel. On one side of the hotel is an industrial zone, on the other - a highway. We barely found it at night. There are no cafes or public places nearby, but there are two combinis within a 10-minute walk. There are no bus stops nearby - walk to the station, then take a bus to the attractions. The hotel is primarily intended for vacationers arriving in their own cars. The hotel itself looks like a classic American motel with entrances from the street. 1. Painful check-in: you need to enter your data into the tablet in the room, our data was lost several times, and we had to re-enter it. They require a photo of your passport, a photo of the person. Then you need to call a live employee and confirm your check-in on camera, answer questions. We could not get through to him for about 10 minutes. In total, it took us at least half an hour to check-in. 2. I discovered that the tablet we checked in on had a camera on while it was on the stand and was filming everything that was happening in the room. Of course, we did not give permission for this. I recommend removing the tablet from the stand and placing it face down on the table. 3. One toilet and one shower in a room designed for 8 people. 4. Eight people won't fit in this room. Two double beds are in one room (not very convenient, no privacy), but there is no place to put four futons for the other guests. We barely fit two futons, moving the table to the side. 5. No iron. 6. The washing machine does not show the temperature. I threw my sneakers in the dryer, after drying they shrank by two sizes (had to throw them out), since the temperature was extra-high, but there was no information about this on the washing machine display. 7. Broken door to the bathroom, slightly worn furniture."

"Very conveniently located opposite JR Nikko and 3 min walk away from Tobu Nikko stations and the buses for the area. Good-sized traditional room with dated bathroom. We got a rather dingy view of the carpark and buildings at the back (maybe our request of a bright, high floor room with nature view did not get through) and the staff were not able to accommodate our request to change, citing full capacity. A limited western oriented breakfast was included but could have more Japanese, fish and vegetarian options, as well as less stern reminders to make guests feel less intimidated and more welcomed. Our fav feature was the onsen and lounge with free drinks machine. We would stay here again, given a more accommodating atmosphere."

"Not very close to the station. But they have transfer from hotel to the station. Bridge, waterfall and sightseeing point are very close just across the river. Buffet is good, but alcohol is not free. When you go off to dinner staff make your tatami. The view is realy nice. Onsen is usual, good, they switch men and women baths in the mornings and evenings"

"Hotel location is good! Opposite is Shenqiao, about 10 minutes away from Toshogu Shrine and Erhuangshan Shrine. The hotel staff was polite, the rooms were not as old as expected, and they were neat. There is a tea room on each floor, with green tea, barley tea and hot water supply. Although the bath is not hot spring water, fatigue can be eliminated after bathing. Breakfast is simple and delicious. The only drawback is that you cannot store your luggage after check out. Attach a landscape photo outside the room."

"Great traditional-yet-luxurious ryokan near the UNESCO temples of Nikko.  The room was amazing: it had a private hot tub, tatami mats,  a massage chair, and even binoculars.  Dinner was a delight, a classical tasting menu full of surprises.  My only complaints are about the shuttle system.  Hotel is extremely inflexible in how and when you can get a ride to and from the sites and train station: other than a couple of fixed time slots, they make you either walk or take a taxi.  Expected a bit more in this regard.  They also very much rushed me out the door in the morning which went counter to the relaxing experience I’d had.  Other than this, easy to recommend."

AAnonymous UserFirst of all, let me praise the hotel's service. It is simply a model. You can experience 100% care, 100% seriousness, and 100% diligence. In addition to meeting the various requirements of guests, a tip is that when you arrive at Kinugawa Onsen Station, you don’t need to take a ride. Let the hotel know in advance and the hotel will send a car to pick you up at the station. Of course, it will also be delivered to the station. In fact, the station is not far from the hotel, only a few hundred meters, and it is quite fast to walk there. The restaurant's food quality is good, whether for breakfast or dinner, it is worthy of praise. Sometimes the restaurant is full of customers and the three waitresses keep running around. It’s so hard. The hot spring water is so hot that I'll be sweating after a while. The room is large in size and the facilities are average. Because the price is not expensive, there are so many guests here that it is always full. Yes, a good hotel will naturally attract more people.

GGuest UserI took a taxi from Kinugawa Onsen Station to go to the hotel, but just take the bus. It's quick, cheap, and good. The hotel service was good. The guide was friendly, and the fact that it's a key, not a card key, is heavy, but it's also good because it's hard to lose. The hotel facilities have a retro feel, but I didn't feel old. It feels like a restored classic car. Dinner is divided into two parts: the first half and the second half. At first, everyone goes to Honmaguro and Daege, but you can take something else at that time. In the end, everything is gone, so you can take your time. The ice cream was Haagen-Dazs, which is a three-course meal, but I only had one because I was feeding the baby. There are three hot springs, including an open-air bath and two large baths, but the basement floor of the annex building was nice because there were fewer people. There were many types of shampoos available on the market, so it was easy to use. There were also Japanese brands of hair dryers, such as Lipa, Panasonic, and Dyson. There were also baby chairs for easy washing of babies, and a baby bed where you could put your baby while drying your hair, so it was easy to prepare for leaving the baby. The breakfast was also great, with unlimited salmon roe and a variety of breads. I was satisfied and plan to visit again when my second child is born. It was a resort where I could feel the bubble era.

GGuest UserThe impressions are the most rosy. About the pros: 1. The hotel looks well-kept and new. The room is large, with a balcony, toilet with shower, there is a mini-bar, tea accessories, pajamas, yukatas, everything is in place. Small gifts. Everything was very nice. There is a coffee machine in the lobby area, you can take books to read, there is a souvenir shop. 2. Warm attitude during the serving of food, especially during dinner. The taste of the food and the quality for me were excellent. As a foreigner unfamiliar with the traditions of the cuisine, we are grateful for the opportunity to touch the culinary microclimate of the region. Although I understand that my opinion cannot be considered expert. 3. A good area with onsen. There is an indoor pool and rotenburo, there is no need to bring towels from the room. There is a small common lounge area with drinks and ice cream. Minor minuses: 1. If you go to the hotel by taxi, it takes you to a gravel path, and then you calmly get there by walking a little to the official entrance of the hotel. But if you walk, and it's about 20 minutes from the station, then knowing that you went through a more convenient service entrance, the detour to the main entrance will seem strange, although in the end it has its own charm. 2. The service at the entrance to the hotel seems a little blurry. Especially after the service in the same restaurant. But we arrived late in the evening, so it is likely that everyone was just tired by the time we arrived. 3. The hotel held a lecture on our evening, but it was in Japanese. Although I do not see a mechanism by which it could be made more accessible. Hiring a translator who would translate into English for a couple of foreigners is strange. Conducting it in English when most of the guests were Japanese is wrong. The hotel is not cheap, but I think it is worth the money. I highly recommend it.

GGuest UserMany things were great about this hotel - I stayed in the dorm for 10 nights and you're basically getting hotel level service and amenities for dorm price, very value for money. New towels provided everyday, library and lounge were great (free alcohol and snacks, plus lovely hammocks and view of the lake), onsen was a good size with indoor and outdoor pools. The one thing I didn't like was the material they used to construct the dorm capsules - thin wood that was very hollow, resulting in a deafening amplification of sound whenever your neighbours moved around you. If you're a light sleeper you might want to reconsider. But otherwise, it was awesome, I would go back again!

CcckentThe hotel is great! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with many facilities like karaoke, a game center, and more. I visited with my family, a total of 14 people, and they were able to arrange a private room for us for both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were buffet-style and absolutely delicious. The onsen experience was wonderful, and the view from the onsen was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the Kinugawa River. However, there was one issue: when we checked in, the reception took our passports for photocopying. Unfortunately, they missed returning one of the passports to us. It wasn’t until after we checked out and reached our next stop that we realized one passport was missing. We had to go back to the hotel to take it. Despite this, the overall experience was great, and I would still recommend the hotel.

HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace. Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines. The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry. Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.

GGuest UserApart from having a vegetarian dinner and breakfast for no apparent reason, the hot spring hotel was pretty good overall. But who wants to eat vegetarian food in a hot spring hotel... After returning, I contacted the Ctrip platform to ask the reason, whether it was a problem with the agent's order or the hotel's problem. The feedback speed was very fast. I made several calls in two days to report the progress and was willing to bear part of the refund, but I never told you the reason we wanted to know. What was the problem?

TTopplusGo with family, not far from Nikko, travel time from Nikko is about 1 hour, walk from the train station is about 10 minutes, there are not many restaurants in this area at night, but it is quiet. Walk to 7-Eleven nearby is not too long, lots of kitchenware, suitable for families or stay for several days, very suitable for people who use cars because there is a lot of parking space.
