The Beach Waikiki Boutique Hostel

Very impressive although the room is a bit small. they also provide tour in Oahu in each day.

My stay in this hostel was really good, the shared rooms are small however they are cleaned daily and there is enough space for luggage. The rooms have aircon which was super nice at night. The seating area outside the room is nice as well. The staff were super friendly and helpful if you have any questions and the front desk is staffed 24/7. The hostel has surfboards and beach stuff, e.g. umbrellas to rent or borrow which was handy. The location is amazing it is super close to the beach and to bus stops. It is a social hostel which is nice is you want to meet other travellers, there also have discounts for tours which is good. There are laundry facilities which you can use for a cost and there are some kitchen facilities including a microwave, hot water etc. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here and would stay again if I ever came back to Waikiki.

Knowing that our flight was landing early morning, we emailed the hostel on a couple of occasions in advance to ask whether there was any possibility of an earlier check in than the usual 2pm. The hostel did not have the decency to respond to any of our emails which was disappointing, especially as we could see the email system open at reception when we arrived (so it’s clear it wasn’t just an unchecked mailbox). While I appreciate that an early check in may not always be possible, the least I would expect from any hostel would be a response to confirm the position either way so that alternative arrangements could be made if necessary. Given the lack of response, we proceeded on the reasonable assumption that we would be allowed check in as soon as the room was free and cleaned which, in most other hostels we’ve stayed in, has been earlier than the stated check in time. When we landed in Hawaii, my partner was very ill. Upon arrival, we informed the guy at the desk of this and asked nicely if there was any chance we could get in to our room as early as possible (acknowledging that the hostel was full and rooms needed to be cleaned). The response was abrupt (and the guy was generally unsympathetic and unhelpful) that the check in was 2pm, no exceptions. We were told to just wait on one of the wooden seats (in 30 degree heat) out the back for when the room was ready. As my partner began to feel even worse (to the point where she needed a doctor) around 11.30 pm (30 mins after check out time) I asked whether there was any possibility that the hostel could ask the cleaning staff to prioritise our room given the circumstances. The response was ‘no’ with zero explanation, which is difficult to understand. The only logical conclusion is that the hostel simply weren’t bothered helping us. We eventually got access to our room just minutes before the 2pm check in time. I would have expected a lot better from a hostel (and particularly this one considering the prices they charge for a very modest room). The room itself isn’t much better than the customer service, small, dark and dingy with an ancient and dusty air con system. Another guest walked into our room during our stay which was also less than ideal. The guest appeared to be checking in - not sure why they weren’t shown to the correct room like we were.

This has been my second time staying at this amazing hostel and I can honestly say that it is the best hostel that I have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. The staff / management and owners are amazing people that go above and beyond to make your experience as awesome as possible and are super friendly. The hostel has a friendly, social vibe with a rooftop patio for everyone to gather before they go out at night and to make new friends and find people to join you for activities during your stay. I have never stayed at a hostel that everyone is so social before. Free surf board rentals for the first 1 1/2 hrs. You can’t beat that. Only 2 streets from Waikiki beach, maybe a 2 minute walk maximum and close to all restaurants, bars and clubs. You can’t find a better location than this. I can’t wait to come back next year!

I stayed a week here in a single room. It’s a great location! Close to Waikiki Beach and a short easy walk to the centre of town. It’s also super close to Diamond Head, closer than any of the hotels in the main *****. I was able to walk to the start of the trail in half an hour. The hostel itself has all basic amenities and is very clean and secure. The wifi is good! The place was peaceful without much noise from surrounds or other visitors. A great place to stay if you’re after a place to rest your head travelling around Honolulu.

Amazing staff! Friendly and help, clean rooms with daily cleaning (lovely and friendly cleaners too). The hostel has plenty of activities, tours and equipment so you can stay busy, but also close to the beach (5min walk) if you just want to relax. Check ins not till too but staff will provide bag storage, towels and a shower which was great after a long flight. Overall an amazing experience!

Absolutely the best location for a hostel! Super close to the beach, shops, bars, restaurants! We arrived before check in was open and the guy at reception was super helpful, let us know we could leave our bags, help ourselves to coffee and a shower which was much welcome after a long flight from NZ. Our room was nice enough, pretty dark with wood on the windows but we were really only in there to sleep. Shower room was tiny! But of a struggle to get dressed etc in there. We rented some surf boards free of charge from the hostel too which was great! Highly recommended if your looking for somewhere central to stay in Waikiki!

Clean Hostel with superfriendly and most helpful staff. I stayed in the female dorm and had the best of times. They have a WhatsApp group, where you can get together for evening fun, trips to the North Shore, hikes, share an Uber to the airport, etc. They also have free snorkeling gear and umbrellas for a day at the Beach. I really loved the place.

Awesome place to stay. The staff were great, the rooms were clean and all the guests were super considerable and friendly. The daily excursions were a bonus! i would highly recommend. I will definitely recommend to friends and if I'm back i plan to stay here.
