Amaite Beach Hotel

**Correction** Unfortunately I had to regrade this place to two stars because they charged 70$MX extra for refilling my coffe even if I specifically asked BEFOREHAND. No matter what, they did not inform me but just charged me. In essence you will pay over 150$MX for coffe here. What bothers me is not the cost but the poor communication and sneaking in a 80% markup. Please watch out if you are mindful of your money, clarity in communication and business service. // I only had breakfast. They gave me refills on the coffe. The price of the coffe is around 80$Mx. It is about 30% higher than anywhere else. It is not a bad It place for restaurant.

We spent 3.nights at this wonderful hotel in a 2-bedroom suite. The room was very spacious, clean and, to our surprise, had 2 bathrooms. Each room had a good A/C unit which was very welcome in August. The room is situated on the edge of the beach and has its own little ‘garden’ with sun beds. We preferred the beds on the beach which is only a few steps away. The service on the beach is very good, drinks and food were easy to get. The hotel also has a restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. The included breakfast was nice: fruits, toast and a choice of eggs. The options for lunch and dinner were OK, but were limited, especially since not everything on the menu was actually available. Luckily, there are many alternative restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is situated in the center of the vibrant village. During the day it is nice to shop at the many little shops nearby, at night the town comes to life and several nice bars and restaurants are close by. It’s also easy to get a taxi or rent a golf cart to visit other parts of the island. Even though the hotel is situated close to the nightlife we were never bothered by it in our hotel room. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. One of our family members celebrated their birthday and the hotel helped to make festive decorations and supplied a beautiful birthday cake. Special mention also goes out to Jessica who was recommended to us by the hotel. She helped us with car and boat transfers from Playa del Carmen and to Cancun International Airport. All in all a great ending to our holiday in Mexico!

Properties like this that are very far from the nearest airport do not count for delays, 1 of our 3 flights was cancelled and we could not get in to Holbox until 1 day later, hotel did not offer a refund for the missed night or any other accommodation.

The outdoor lounge area is very nice

I feel like I should give my honest review.. I. Regards the customer service the staff was extremely mean and rude at the hotel and the hotel restaurant. I was a little disappointed in the free breakfast as they serve you the same thing everyday. Other than that it’s nice.
