umVangati House

The most luxurious accomodation I have ever stayed at. The staff and manager are 150%. The views amazing, inclusive of the watering hole and its visitors (baboons, zebra, kudu). Visible from the luxury living & dining areas. I cannot see how this place could be any better.

Wow Wow Wow. We were really excited to stat at UmVangati House, and the 5 star reviews are a testament to the service which Lidia, Giel, Jacob and Sonia all provide from start to finish. We were travelling to South Africa for a once in a lifetime holiday, with a stop in the Green Canyon. The House were able to arrange various activities whilst we were staying with them, including a spectacular tour of the Panorama route (with lunch included); a horseback ride to a private vantage point a the Three Rondawels; and, a private helicopter tour for two (including a picnic(!) prepared by the team at UmVangati to have on a short stop) over the Green Canyon. To top it off, the helicopter was able to land close to the house! This was truly spectacular! We opted for dinner on the both nights that we were staying at umVangati, which we'd highly recommend. Make sure you ask to see the wine cellar, as it's incredible. The food was lovingly prepared by the team and has a really playful cuisine feel, something you'd expect to see in a high-end restaurant in London for a very reasonable price. It was one of the best meals we had in South Africa across our 10 day visit to the country - so a huge credit to the team here. We'd originally booked the King room, but Sonia managed to persuade us to upgrade to a Mountain View Suite on our day of arrival - and it was worth the upgrade just for the view of the mountain and the private balcony (although we didn't have much time to use it!). We cannot recommend umVangati enough - the only thing we'd change was making sure we had even longer there, as two days is not enough time to enjoy the beauty and loving hospitality that awaits you.

The Most Perfect Romantic Getaway WOW!! From the second you arrive, to the moment you leave you are treated like royalty. This family run business in the mountains is the perfect getaway. All the family members are extremely friendly, professional and have a great knowledge of the house and the surrounding area. They also have a watering hole, to which someone will notify you when animals are there. As we traveled for our honeymoon, we decided to upgrade to a suite, and we were not disappointed. The views from the room were mind-blowing. The room itself had maybe the comfiest bed I have ever slept in, great amenities provided, as well as pool towels for the pool at the main house. In the main house, the infinity edge swimming pool has the most insane view of the mountains. You can choose to have your meals inside, outside, next to a fire pit or treat yourself and eat in the wine room. Unfortunately, im not a wine drinker, but the wine room was amazing. I genuinely cant say enough about how amazing this place is. The local area has lots of great activities, we visited Jessica The Hippo and a Hot Air Balloon ride both of which I highly recommend. If you are thinking of a trip then this is the place to stay, I promise it wont disappoint. The only thing I would mention is the long driveway, Id highly recommend a higher car, but we did manage in our saloon car. On the drive up we saw giraffe, so please stick to the speed limit, as they come out of nowhere. To sum it up, the best place I have ever stayed.

The views from umVangati House were breathtaking, each dish was delectable, the staff and owners were so friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, clean, comfortable and felt very safe. I could not recommend this place more highly. It was the highlight of my trip.

We stayed 3 days at this 5 Star boutique hotel. The rooms are stunning, the Suites are even better! The food and service are world class and on a par with anything we have eaten in Cape Town. And they can organise great excursions and activities.
