My husband and I had the most amazing safari experience at Makalali!! The staff are so friendly and passionate about wild life. Learned so much from Patrick who was our guide. He made sure that we saw 4 of the big 5 up close and a cheetah too (sometimes bravely going on foot to track the animals). The food was amazing. Exceptional experience!

The experience in Makalali river lodge was totally over our expectations. From the check-in till the end we felt sorrounded by warmness and kindness. A special mentions to the Driver and Tracker, Pilot and Promise, special person in special place. Love the nature, the place, the room, but mostly the people of Makalali. Such a great experience!

Makalali is a private reserve that exceeded our expectations in terms of the safari experience. The rangers and spotters are top-notch and the facility's ***** areas lovely. The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating.

My wife and I had a terrific experience at Makalali Lodge. The staff were all extremely welcoming and efficient, the facilities are excellent, and the ranger and tracker we had were excellent.

good food, good surroundings. Pity we didn't see lions. However we did have a very memorable close encounter with an elephant and it was the first time I saw buffalos.

We had the most amazing stay here, from lovely accommodation to beautiful food. The staff were so lovely and accomodating. The safari drives were fabulous, our driver and guide were fantastic. Such a special place. We’ve made lifelong memories, we will definitely be back.

We stayed in the River Lodge for 4 nights and the experience was absolutely incredible. We saw so many animals (including the big 5!) and watched a herd of elephants go past the room and pool. Honest and Lucas were our Ranger and Tracker and they were absolutely amazing!!! So incredibly knowledgeable and personable, they really made our experience special!

We had the absolute trip of a lifetime, wish we would have done this many years ago! Saw the Top 5 and many more animals and birds. This was due to our excellent trackers, Paul Bhila and Patrick Sibiya. They made this an experience I will always remember! The entire staff was outstanding, the lodging made me feel I was really out in Africa!

This was my first safari and it lived up to my expectations. We stayed at the main lodge and were part of a tour group. The property was lovely, the staff friendly and the game drives were amazing. We had Wonderboy and Buttha (spelling?) who were great!. We went on 6 game drives during our stay. We saw the big 5 and also saw some babies (lion cubs and a baby rhino) . The sunsets were beautiful and being that close to animals in their natural habitat was such an amazing experience. What I also enjoyed were the stops during the drive in the mornings to have coffee (I recommend getting this with Amarulo) with muffins and in the evening we had cocktails and snacks. We always received a warm welcome when returning to the lodge from our game drives. Everything about this lodge and the game drives made this a truly amazing experience. I highly recommend staying here for your safari adventure.
