Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit

Got the suite for a family Christmas getaway. The establishment is new and I hope on my next visit the teething issues are fixed because this place is a gem, no reason why it couldn't be the regions best hotel. Some of the staff are great, but others don't seem to have ever worked in hospitality. Pros: -Private Pool. -The communal pool areas are well staffed with lots of drinks and food options. -Large bathtub in the suites secluded from the others -The adults only Portuguese bar (Neil The Manager there is top notch). Cons: -The private pools in the suites get overnight bugs, but there are no nets for guests to self clean, say at 5am for an early dip. Please provide each suite a net. - Wife wanted a massage, spa had no spaces, get more staff, it's an isolated hotel, serving many guests, provide guests with more staff and they will pay for services like massage, nails, etc. Other places we stayed even have packages for in room massage. It's a great revenue stream for you and a great experience for the customer. My wife would happily pay for a daily full massage. -They seemed to run out of towels in the rooms, we only had towels for one, which is weird for a high end resort. -Food should be better considering it's isolated, there should be more restaurants with many options, at various price points. It's currently all or nothing at top price. Unfair. -Some main restaurant staff have no emotional intelligence or context that their guests are paying a premium and should be catered to. I saw a parent with a toddler at breakfast be denied a takeaway box for breakfast when they wanted to remove his child from the dining area to avoid the toddlers tantrum from escalating, the staff simply said they had a no takeaway at breakfast policy. Such a travesty for a resort at this price. Staff should have made an exception, and I'm not talking managers, it shouldn't need a manager, it's common sense. -Housekeeping was always left till late in the day, they focused on the bill rooms getting cleaned first so us suite dwellers would need to put up with yesterday's room mess till after 3pm -Houskeeping, if you leave plates out you'll find them outside your door for over 24 hours, I had to call them to say my room service from yesterday afternoon was blocking my entrance, the night after -Lots of trainees with no managers in sight, so very often they're guessing and too afraid
Kapama River Lodge

We had a fantastic visit to Kapama River Lodge over New Years 2024/2025. First of all, I have never stayed anywhere that had such friendly, warm, and caring staff. Our housekeeper Catherine was fantastic, our guide Wernecht was knowledgeable and fun, and our tracker Pardon knew every turn and corner in the park. Stanford served us every meal with care and a sunny attitude. We had the same staff at our service for the entire stay, letting us get to know them and ensuring a perfect visit. The accommodations were luxurious and perfect, far exceeding our expectations for a safari in the bush. In the first 24 hours, we had already hit the big 5 on our first 2 game drives, ensuring a perfect trip. Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent accommodations, I cannot say enough good things about Kapama.

Considering that this was our last Family trip when all the children are still kids We wanted to do something special to remember in the future. The goal was to see our chosen spirit animals and to have unforgettable experiences. This was more than delivered by the Safaris and the Lodge. A trip that will live in memories for years to come. From the reception at the airport to the last goodbye we are so thankful for making dreams come true.
