Hotels in Japanese Area, Ho Chi Minh City

After two nights in the Roseland Corp Hotel I just don’t know where to start describing this horrible experience as everything - the service, the rooms, the prices - was just so, so bad. So I just start at the beginning: We arrived on a Thursday. Arranging a pick-up from the airport was surprisingly complicated, it took several mails with the service manager for no reason but in the end there was a quite unfriendly driver waiting for us at the gate. They charged us 750.000 Dong which is way above the common taxi-rate (150.000 Dong). When we arrived at the hotel they charged my credit card for the room - twice. As the woman at the front desk didn’t understand English that well, it was quite complicated to convince her of her mistake and get the money back. The Roseland Corp hotel has an impressive entrance area. It’s nice, really. But unfortunately this doesn’t translate to the rooms. They are terrible, probably furnished in the 80s and not renewed since. They have whirlpool bathtubs made of plastic, lots of wood in the room, curtains that haven’t been washed for ages, and you can hear everything that is going on outside of your room. The first room we got smelled like cold cigarette smoke. I complained and they upgraded us to a bigger room (after we looked at a series of rooms, one of them still in use by a paying guest). But even the upgraded room was by far worse then everything we have seen in Vietnam. I wanted to cancel the whole reservation but they wouldn’t let us go. Instead they promised us the best room of the hotel the next day and we stayed. The first night was terrible. The bed had a very, very old and thus noisy spring mattress. The slightest movement made a noise. The walls and curtains had stains all over it. There’s no constant hot water, I had a cold shower in the morning. Shower and toilet happened to make weird unexpected noises. The best room in the hotel was basically the same as before but with a better view and a less noisy mattress. At this point I was ready to drink on that but unfortunately all the mini bar contained was two bottles of water. Breakfast was…well, let’s not talk about it. All of this would have been okay somehow if this hotel wasn’t so pricey. It’s like paying for a filet mignon and getting McDonalds Cheesburger. When we checked out the woman at the front desk (the same who messed up the payment) kindly asked us to sit and wait in the entrance area so she can check if everything is okay. We waited five, ten, fifteen minutes and nothing happened. When we asked her if everything was okay, she was surprised to see that we are still there. Yes, everything okay, she said. I can’t say the same. P.S.: Neil, the doorman, was the only exception to this experience. You are great, man! Please find a new employer.

Roseland Sweet Hotel is a value for money hotel; and there would be many other similar hotels easily found online. But what made Roseland stand out was one of their staff Kiet Anh, who is a bellboy, front desk, concierge all rolled into one. The week I was there, he was working everyday and all hours, I practically see him all the time whenever i'm at the lobby, whether I am going out or coming back. His bright, cheerful and friendly demeanour plus his very personal touch is on par with the service found only at the 5 or 6 star hotels. He was what made the difference for me staying at Roseland; which otherwise would be a good but pretty average hotel. Roseland is indeed very fortunate to have employed a staff like him; and given time and the right grooming would make an excellent management personnel in the hospitality industry. My choice of hotel will still be Roseland for my next coming trip, but only if Kiet is there. Thank you Kiet, for making my stay so pleasant and memorable; and thanks for helping me send my cracked handphone for repair; you really saved my life!! See you soon!

Good hotel in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is super cheap with breakfast ３ night ８, ０９０ yen. The breakfast buffet is also delicious and it is just too much. The hotel staff has a good friendliness and cozy. The hotel room has a window more open, but there are many rooms without windows, but there is a clock in the room, and the sense of time can be managed. The hotel room has ample size. In addition, there are more than １００ channels on the liquid crystal TV, but there is only a program for Japan for NHK's overseas version. There is no free beverage in the refrigerator. However, there is a convenience store nearby, so if you buy it, it is OK. The bathroom is very large. The large bathtub can be relaxed. Amenities are also necessary and sufficient.

We stayed 3 nights in Roseland Centa hotel. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, extensive breakfast buffet, good location. The greatest brightness of this hotel is the reception staff. They shall do everything in their power to make the stay as pleasant as possible. For example, Long advised us to go to look at the firework from the roof of Roseland Sweet Hotel and reserved a VIP table, we asked 2 additional heads and were brought in an eye-spot, ... The location of the hotel was close to where i wanna go, so its a plus, although the music and lots of ppl on the street walking by, but its doesnt get to the room, very good sleep… buffet area is kina small, not really comfortable when alot of ppl heading to get buffet at once… food not that hot…. Services not great, staff is jus ok. Its worth a try… definitely thinking of going back here to stay more…

Location is fantastic, near spas, convenience store and there are some Japanese restaurant nearby. The staff are friendly, willing to help and can communicate well, they are lovely. The ”swimming pool” is not a pool and with strong smell of Disinfectant water, the ”gym” is small. apart from that, our room looks nice and clean. It will be even better if the price could get lower, breakfast acceptable.

Hotel in close to river, though area is very modern. A lot of the attractions seem to be around 1-1.5km away. Breakfast was good and had a good variety. It was disappointing that we could access the sky bar as it was all closed at 8pm, though it’s advertised as being open till 10pm. I Probably wouldn’t stay here again due to its location for me personally it’s a bit far out, but this is a personal decision and nothing against the hotel. Hotel was clean and staff were really great

The hotel is in District 1 and the location is super good. Boutiques and currency exchangers are just around the corner (walk for two minutes). It takes 15 minutes to walk to Bincheng Market (Ben Thanh Market), or spend 10,000 VND (0.6 US dollars) by car. When booking, we asked for a signed suite and a quiet room. One of my family was lucky to upgrade the room to a family suite, so big that you can't believe it. The room on the 3rd floor was not too noisy. There was a smell of smoke in the room (we want a non-smoking room), and the air conditioner didn't taste that big when it was turned on. The bathroom was nice, a bit small, but beautifully furnished. Breakfast is delicious. But if you only eat Jewish food or halal food, pay attention to pork.

Softest bed in Vietnam. Great central location and the staff were great and most happy to assist. Pool was fantastic on the hot/humid days after exploring the city. Even dropped my wallet in the reception area and it was held safely behind the counter by staff for my return. Staff were fantastic about everything. Breakfast selection was broad and fresh. Highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again without a doubt.

We have been to HCMC many times but it's the first time we are staying in this part of District 1, as previously we all stayed around Ben Thanh market, that is about 15mins walk from here. The hotel is nice and staff are overall friendly and helpful! Location wise, it's near to city center and there's a circle k convenience store located opposite and some eateries around too. Our room on 1st floor is spacious and large, and bed is comfortable. Breakfast is good (they change a few dishes daily and there's live cooking too). Room service was well done. The bathroom is big and have bathtub and automatic blinds. However, on certain days, there was no hot water (possibly many people are using at the same time) and was lukewarm. And the drainage has problem and all the water from the bathtub would flow out from below and flooded the entire toilet floor. It took a while for the water to be fully drained and floor was wet. If you don't really mind this, there's no issue. Overall, our stay here was nice and lovely and would be happy to stay here again when we revisit HCMC!
