The hotel is in a very good location, convenient for visiting Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding countryside. There is a small river flowing next to it, and the scenery is very beautiful. The hotel is a bit old, but it is well maintained, and the bathroom seems to have been renovated. There are plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot. The breakfast is good, but dinner is not all-inclusive. You have to order it yourself, within 25 pounds, and you don't get a refund if you pay more, and you get more if you pay less, which is a bit unusual.

Peaceful, tranquil location by the river Tyne. My last stay in the hotel was about 35 years ago and little would appear to have changed still very pleasant but a little faded by todays glittery standards. Good room rates.

We have just returned home from a Sunday lunch at the George Hotel Chollerford. We were looking forward to a pleasant Sunday roast, from a fine dining establishment, as described on the advertising. We all ordered chicken supremes. The meat with which we were served was a slab of minced chicken sliced from a processed roll of meat. To say it was the worst meal I’ve ever been served in a restaurant would be misleading, because it did not merit the title of “meal” as any restaurant customer would define it. What an appalling disappointment!

Amazing hotel. Beautiful location, right along Hadrian’s Wall walk. The room was the biggest of any we stayed in on our trip and the beds were super comfortable. The packed lunch was expensive, but it was about the same price as all the other b&b along the route. Dinner was delicious. All in all a great experience!

Beautiful setting but really run down hotel. Our room was ground level at the back and despite the chatty and welcoming guy on the reception things went downhill from there. The room was dated, dark and really musty. The smell was so pungent and in our opinion needed a complete overhaul. The carpets and headboard smelt so musty and the pillows and sheets felt damp to the touch. This hotel needs a serious injection of cash to bring it back to its best. The location next to the river was by far the best thing about the hotel and we couldn’t wait to check out. Really disappointing.

Three of us popped in for lunch one day recently. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very comfortable. I really love the pictures (murals?) of Hadrian's Wall and Sycamore Gap. We enjoyed sandwiches and a charcuterie board. Not the cheapest food but it was very nice. The best part of The George, in my opinion, is the beautiful setting. It's worth visiting just for the view.
