The County Hotel

Fabulous overnight stay at The County. Great atmosphere in the bar and staff very friendly. Very dog friendly and the doggy pack in our room was a lovely touch, along with the doggy breakfast. Rooms very comfortable and a good size. Recommend

A lovely hotel with some really nice staff. The food in the bar was more than adequate for our needs and I liked the specials on offer. We stayed for two nights with the breakfast being really outstanding to set us up for our tour of Northumberland. An ideal location for country, sea and city (Newcastle) The only downside for us as really light sleepers were the street noises with binmen and late night revellers. Parking really wasn't too difficult. If no spaces directly outside there is the main car park with free 24 hr spaces (white bays only) if you are lucky enough to grab one.

On mini break to Hexham so tried the County for food without booking. Excellent service. Drinks were good as well. Found the menu to be pretty extensive and varied. All in our group found the food they ordered to be very good and enjoyable. Recommend.

We ate there on 24th of August 2024 as a family because the nearby Coach and Horses had technical issues with their kitchens. I had fish and chips with mushy peas, my better half had the liver, two people had scampi, one had a haddock dish, one had a cheese sandwich and one had childs fish and chips. When we asked about a high chair, one was immediately provided. The friendly staff were very helpful and efficient considering that they were also catering for people who had been directed there from the Coach and Horses. We would certainly visit again. Leaflets detailing the history of the Coach and Horses and the County Hotel would have been nice. The only downside was that I was served fries instead of chips with my fish.

Been here a few times now and ordered the same thing each time. One day amazing, next time average and the last terrible! I know everyone has off days but this was something else. My friends enjoyed what they had each time but i think this will be our last time here. Staff all look a bit deer in the headlights so maybe a bit tlc is needed on their behalf

As visitors to Hexham and unfamiliar with the area we called into the County hotel on Friday 19th July following a hospital appointment in the hope of getting a meal. We were absolutely delighted with our find. From the on street parking and and very friendly people who guided us to where we needed to be; to the welcome at the hotel door by a local gentleman. Then the very friendly waitress who immediately showed us to our table and attended to our needs. The meal was absolutely fabulous, along with the service and all the staff we encountered. The hotel is also very well presented and clean. It was just what my friend and I needed after a hectic day and provided us with a lovely environment to chill, relax and catch up. We were very taken with Hexham itself and how appealing the town centre appeared to be with people sitting outside the various businesses all happily enjoying a relaxing drink or two. We hope to visit again very soon when we have more time to explore. Thank you everyone at the County Hotel, you are doing a fabulous job - keep up the good work. :)

Absolutely amazing! Room beautifully decorated, good power shower. Restaurants food is to die for. Highly recommend braised ox cheeks. Reasonably priced. Staff really friendly. Hotel close to all amenities, especially the hospital.

This is a very good small town hotel that we would heartily recommend. Very well situated in the town for restaurants, parking etc, good staff and with heating on to keep us cosy in an unseasonably cold June! Its also good value so we opted for one of the more expensive rooms which gave us lots of space.

Very friendly help full staff, spacious rooms, every thing you could need, was a little concerned when I saw the ear plugs by the bed but it was quiet enough. Breakfast was adequate, enough on the plate and a good selection of options but you had to wait for staff to appear if you wanted to order toast. Car park a slight walk but you can drop bags and park and the hotel give you plenty of warning about this and details on where to park for free.
