Rainbow Apartments

Got talking to a couple at the beach who mentioned they were staying here so as we were looking for ideas for next year, Self catering, we thought we would pop by. The lady on reception was so helpful. Allowed us to have a look around and even opened up an apartment for us to take a look. Had a quick chat to some current customers and we were so impressed we have booked for next year. We love Crete and are happy to be returning again to what looks like might be our best choice holiday yet. Rainbow Apartments we look forward to meeting you August 2025.
Lyda Hotel
3.5/549 Reviews
Attended 12-26th July 2024. We have just arrived home from a fantastic 2 weeks at Lyda. We booked this holiday for my daughter’s 18th birthday and can honestly say we have loved it. We went as a family of 4, myself, wife, daughter and our son aged 12. We all had a great time. The rooms are basic and the beds are very but had no issues. The drains in the bathroom are connected from toilet, sink and bath so smells do back up a bit. The TV in the rooms only has BBC world news as English Channel and it’s only a 14” screen and is up high on the wall. There is a small kitchen counter in rooms but no kettle. We took a travel kettle etc. A full size fridge was in our room so plenty of room for milk, water or snacks. The food was lovely. Breakfast is basic and limited to local cereal, pastries, bread, chips….yes chips, small selection of cooked items but nice. Mid day snacks varied from chips and hotdog sausage, pizza or popcorn. Variable on different days. Lunch was always nice. Various meats, pasta, salad etc. Afternoon cakes for snacks. Evening meals again, very nice including a chef show grill option. Cakes, moose or jelly and ice cream for dessert. All inclusive drinks limited to wine, local beer, oozo or brandy. Soft drinks, lemon and orange Fanta, sprite, cola and water. Cocktails are amazing at around €7-8 each. Kids cocktails, spirits, milkshakes etc also available as cost. Bar opens at 11am. All inclusive service stops at 10.30pm. Tea and coffee available from machine FOC. I would recommend getting a drinks carrier to take with you, there are no trays to carry drinks and the plastic cups can be a pit flimsy and can be difficult to carry to tables or loungers. The pool bar wasn’t open when we were there as only open in high season. Pools are great and not very busy. Evening entertainment is limited and done by hotel entertainment. Usually lasts about 20min. Pool table, air hockey and grab machines available at a couple of euro each. Little shop on site. Reasonable price, water available in 6x2lt bottles for €1.40. 2 more shops just over the road. Hotel shuttle but to a small beach and only 5 min bus drive. Other beaches available along front. The bus runs at 10/12.30/3/5.30. Returns from beach back at 10.05/12.35/ 3.05/ 5.35. 15-20 min walk along sea front to main shopping street from the bus drop of. Very nice bars etc down the front. Anfield, Dreams, Wembley all very good. As English people we did find there was only a few other Brits in the hotel, mainly French, German and Polish. We did find some of them very rude but didn’t let it spoil anything. We all got mosquito bits and quite a lot so definitely take a good bug spray and after bite. I don’t normally get bit but ended up with about 14 bites. The crickets are constant and loud all day and night but son get used to them. All staff are great and friendly. There are a few cats that hang around the hotel and love a fuss. We had a late night flight back so paid for the room late check out. N
Knossos Royal

We loved it. The view and ambiente were just fantastic and out of this world. As for the stuff, they are the kindest and most attentive people. Ah! And the restaurant Artemis was the highlight of our time at the resort. Even though the resort has several and different restaurants the food and attention at Artemis was so good that we made it our No. 1 place to eat for an entire week haha!!.. The only thing that as an allergic person made struggle a bit was the dusty furniture.
Mitsis Royal Mare

We’ve just returned from a 10 night stay with an 18 month baby. Overall, the hotel is lovely - very big with lots of pools and restaurants. We booked the suite with pool access which was invaluable with a little one. Positives: overall staff very friendly, food was great for an all inclusive (even the buffet), though we didn’t rate the South American a la carte. The cocktails at the main bar were great (the other bars were more pre-made but to be expected as pool bars). Right on the beach - shingle but we found this to be fine. Some of the staff were amazing (especially Rula at the Beach Bar). There is a nice kids area with a kids club and playground, we didn’t use the club but did use the playground. Never seemed to be a problem with people reserving sun beds on the whole. We needed to see a doctor one day and the reception staff went out of their way to help, we felt totally looked after in a stressful situation. They even arranged the collection of the prescription for us. Negatives: we found it hard to get bottles of water (you get 2 in your room when the restock the mini bar but with a baby we needed more) and the bars were funny about giving them out. While the food was good overall, there wasn’t much on offer for snacks, apart from the crepe restaurant and the hotdog stand near the beach. Ice creams weren’t advertised but I think you could ask for some. Big negative for us was the pool temperature - super cold! Too cold for our little one unfortunately, and it was the same in the kids area. We tried the indoor pool one day as it was heated but it wasn’t very clean so we didn’t use it again. Overall, wouldn’t quite call this a 5 star hotel, but that being said we had a lovely stay and elements of it felt more luxury. I wouldn’t say it’s the best for babies (although everyone was very baby friendly and accommodating). We went mid-October and the weather was 23/24 and sunny. Would defo recommend for a holiday in Crete!
Anemos Suites by Estia
4.1/525 Reviews
We chose Anemos Suites as we were looking for somewhere self-catering at the end of a month in various parts of Greece. We stayed in ”suite” 302 titled ”Sea Horse”. The room was quite spacious but there were very limited kitchen supplies. Only 3 of everything supplied (bowls, glasses etc), one burner that you plug in, kettle, sandwich toaster, one saucepan, milk pan, frypan, no microwave. We never made any meals or even a cup of tea here! They had a restaurant on site and the meal the night we arrived was tasty enough, but my husband got food poisoning from the club sandwich that night. A better dining alternative is down the end of the lane near the beach at the News Seaside Bar Restaurant where I had the best club sandwich and chips in Greece! On the second day (our first morning there, and my birthday) I attempted to have a shower but the water was cold. My husband then realised the bathroom was flooding not in the shower cubicle but bubbling up in the middle of the bathroom behind me where I hadn’t noticed. By the time he warned me and I turned it off, it was flooding out into the living area. We managed to move my suitcase just in time. We reported it but there was no-one around that morning that spoke much English. They understood enough to send the cleaner over to mop up the water and she somehow fixed the blockage, however the water was still cold so we couldn’t shower. We tried to communicate with the staff about when the hot water would be fixed but were instead handed a breakfast menu. When we asked to see the manager we were told only ”later”. After wasting a couple of hours that morning trying to resolve things (including calling our travel agent who also contacted the manager) we ended up having a sponge wash and went out to start our day. By the time we left (around 11am) someone who spoke English had arrived and he was able to tell me that a plumber would be there later that afternoon. He also gave us directions to find a doctor as my husband had developed an infection in his leg and needed antibiotics. So he at least was helpful. After returning late afternoon, I asked if we could have a replacement bathmat and hand towel as they were still soaking wet from the flooding. The elderly Greek owners started arguing with each other in Greek and then the woman argued with me saying “tomorrow” as in they were only due to replace the towels tomorrow. I think she also wanted payment for changing them earlier. I tried to explain about our room flooding but she couldn’t understand. I said they should be compensating us with a free breakfast or drinks not arguing about replacing a couple of towels, and said we would give them a bad review. There was a worker there who spoke good English (we had interacted with him the evening before) but instead of interpreting what we were saying he just went and sat at the check in desk and didn’t want to get involved. I gave up and 5 minutes later the elderly Greek lady came to our room with two towel
Bella Beach Hotel
4.2/5103 Reviews
I recently spent a week at Bella Beach in Crete, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience! The hotel itself had a relaxing atmosphere, but what truly made my stay exceptional were the staff members Yaro, the entertainment chief, Giorgo, the young bartender, and Denis who helped organize activities! Yaro was the life of the resort! His enthusiasm and creativity in organizing daily activities and evening entertainment kept everyone engaged and having fun. Whether it was a poolside game or playing bingo, Yaro’s charisma made each event a highlight of our stay. He truly has a gift for bringing people together and creating a joyful atmosphere. Giorgo, the bartender, was another standout. He mixed the most delicious cocktails and always had a smile on his face. His friendly nature made the bar a welcoming place to unwind after a day in the sun. Giorgo was also great at recommending drinks based on our preferences, which added a personal touch to our experience. Denis also played a key role in organizing activities, ensuring everyone had a great time. Together, they created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our vacation unforgettable. The combination of Yaro’s vibrant entertainment, and Giorgo’s and Denis’ top-notch service made our time at Bella Beach unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a fun and relaxing getaway in Crete.
