Shendish Manor Hotel & Golf Course

It's a lovely manor house and the staff were friendly. We had a nice stay.

Room needs to freshen up as it is showing its age. Staff are friendly and plenty of parking spaces available.

This hotel definitely needs both a physical and managerial update. Charlie (the manager) is a very nice and hard working man but you know that when he is actually having to do all the work and isn't able to rely on other junior staff he either isn't a great manager and is not being supported adequately. We checked in, my wife uses a wheelchair and happily a ground floor room had been booked for us with the correct facilities. Whilst I was unloading the car my wife discovered there was no remote control for the TV. I went to the reception desk to inform the receptionist who told me that as the TVs weren't working we wouldn't need one!! I then discovered that the desk light needed to illuminate the kettle was not working, back to reception and she kindly came to the room to check and confirm that indeed it was not working. I also informed her there was no bin in the room - was the little one in the bathroom not enough - not for tea bags. About 4 hours later I found Charlie and told him our problems. We had a bin by now. He fixed the TV and got a remote from another bedroom. He also gave us the desk light from his office and asked us not to leave it on for too long because he had provided it for another guest the previous week. So clearly no maintenance within the hotel. There were only two useable sockets in the room and no USB points. All the staff were very young and clearly in need of better training. They were nice and approachable but not at all efficient.
