Absolutely appalling excuse for a hotel from the minute I arrived it was filthy, urine around the toilet muddy prints over the floor, what appeared to be some form of spilt food down the side of the bed which was hard and would leave you with horrible back and rib pain, doors are paper thin and cut so short you could fit your hand underneath and these weren't even fire doors, every sound that was made in the building would wake you up, the shower was either freezing or scalding hot and within 2 minutes it would star to overflow, this is hands down the worst place I've had the displeasure of staying I even left early one morning to sleep in my car.

Lovely helpful staff. Food in restaurant good. Room adequate for the price, except toilet down the hall - not great when you don't know and have no dressing gown packed! Also TV not working. With these improvements could be a fine business one nighter - somewhere just to get a good nights sleep at a budget price for the working day ahead.

I honestly think that this is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. I have cause to visit Hemel Hempstead fairly regularly on business & I had an unexpected few days to work down there. It was last minute & Hemel Guesthouse was the only room I could find at short notice. With hindsight I think that spending my overnight stay would have been more comfortable by staying in the waiting room on platform 3 at Hemel Hempstead train station. I have included a couple of photos of the shower that was in my room. I had to share a W.C. with other guests on the floor & the state the toilet was left in on the couple of occasions I visited it very nearly made me vomit. Instead I either had to answer nature's call at work or at a local pub. The bed sheets were stained with what could only be described as fecal matter. I asked for clean sheets, the management just turned the sheets to put the stain further down the bed in what I can only assume was a ruse to try & trick me. I ended up going to the local camping shop & buying a sleeping bag as there was no way on earth I was sleeping in that bed. In the day & age of Internet sites such as TripAdvisor, the mind boggles at how hotels expect to get away offering such shoddy services such as the Hemel Hempstead Guesthouse offer. This is a truly TRULY HORRIBLE HOTEL...!!! Do not stay here.

Overpriced, decrepit accommodation. No breakfast facilities, not even a microwave. No on-site management, noisy restaurant below and even noisier bar staff accommodation above, they don't seem to settle till around 1:00am. Situated next to noisy road junction. £50 a night for the privilege. Oh and TV doesn't work

Where do i start ? After already cancelling one Hotel as it advertised en suite that didnt exist .arrived at tbis one to find that the room hax a shower and wash basin but no toilet . That was next door . I was offered another room but at £5 a night extra. Please see pics for what met me . Missing bannister on stairway told that upstairs was not in use but two people from another country obviousky living there. Wash basin blocked for three days I unblocked it myself after getting fed up with using the shower for everything . Then the Toilet next door became blocked twice . The noise from uncaring childish hotel guests was very discusting. List Broken outside door lock Missing bannister Blocked sink and toilet Electrick socket off the wall supposedly to use for kettle . no way! Filthy shower i completely Bleached everything i could so glad i did home shopping before my arrival this place should be shut down . There was a sign on the door that room would be checked for missing goods . Hs not a chance no cleaning or towel change at all.

This is a budget hotel - used mainly by contractors (I am one). You pay your price and get what you pay for. OK there is not a receptionist, however there is on-site staff who,, when you call come and book you in. The reception is the restaurant down stairs. OK so you have to go up metal stairs to get into the accommodation, but then you are on proper indoors stairs. When I booked in I was advised by Sid that the rooms were basic - he was correct, but the bed and shower were clean - the bed comfortable. So, I had to share a toilet with another room; I knew that when I booked in, so why people complain when they know that is going to happen I am not sure. The toilet was always available when I wanted it, and clean. There were 2 tables and a chair in my room along with a basin, bed, shower, and hanging space. The bed looked clean and the towel was a decent sized very white bath sheet - large enough for most people including me. One table held a TV, kettle and selection of tea and coffee with sugar and milk. I was told that if I ran low on them to let Sid know and he would replenish the supplies. The food in the restaurant down stairs is not the cheapest, but it is good. They do not advertise breakfast, so I did not expect to get it.

On the first night, there was no electricity, hot water or heating I have been told I’m getting a refund for that night. The room is dirty and small. The hotel is above a restaurant which plays music loud from 7am this music has a loud beat to it. The hotel is unmanned and entry is via electronic locks which are tempamental. There is a shower in the corner of the room which takes a while to warm up, and by the time you’ve showered the room is full of steam, leaving everything feeling damp. I will not return.
