We didn't stay here, we just went for a late lunch, following an afternoon in Harwich/Felixstowe. We arrived and were warmly greeted and sent upstairs for our table. There is a lift, which is useful as we had a person with reduced mobility and a 4 year old with us. The restaurant has a really calm and welcoming atmosphere, and there were people with full lunches and also with afternoon tea. They provided a colouring kit for the child which is always a nice touch. One of our party has a severe dairy allergy, the menu was written clearly with the contained allergens, and the staff were very happy to double check with the kitchen for us which did set our mind at ease, and even checked that it was ok to have dairy in the other meals because of the allergy. Drinks were served quickly, and food was beautifully presented and the portions were very good, I had the curry whilst the rest of the party had the fish and chips - they all commented on how wonderful it was. The server, Sally, was especially friendly to our little boy and spoke to him beautifully, which again we really appreciated.

Very expensive, lacklustre menu. A three course was advertised on their website for July. It looked better than the a la carte menu. Three courses for £25. As most courses on the a la carte were £20 or above the three course option looked very reasonable. When the three course menu was requested we were told that it was a year out of date. The website had not been updated. Disappointing

4th time we have stayed at the pier hotel...and once again absolutely amazing. Room was wonderful lots of space and spotlessly clean. Service in the bar and restaurant second to none. Food was first class such a good choice and amazing quality. Hats off to the chef. Breakfast... best ever and the Scottish lady... apologies for not remembering her name is so friendly and on the ball . Can't thank her and the rest of the staff, receptionists bar staff, restaurant staff and cleaners enough. Only problem... we had to leave... we look forward to coming back

Lovely stay highly recommend. The hotel is very modern and fresh looking. All the staff are excellent very helpful and polite. Dinning in the restaurant is highly recommended food service and ambiance wonderful. Breakfast is a must with great choice and all freshly cooked. If you get a room with a sea view you are really in for a treat great view of the harbour and across the river. Private off road parking.

I stayed for my birthday weekend as a treat from my wife. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent. The car park to the hotel was full so Amy the receptionist said she would call as soon as a space was free as there were people having lunch in the restaurant . She called 30 mins later to advise there were spaces. We checked in seamlessly with a lovely lady called Gillian and the room was excellent with a large bed and sofa seating area with sea views. We were staying on the secret escapes deal which was £40 per head credit per night for dinner. The food was excellent especially the fresh seafood. I had a dressed crab each night for starter as I love it. Moules Mariniere and my wife had salmon rillettes followed by monkfish . Cocktails and a nice bottle of wine. Poppy served us and was very attentive all the way through and such a pleasant girl. She also served us at breakfast the next morning along with her colleague Caroline and it was such a friendly welcome to start your day. Dinner the next night was also superb and as it was my birthday we had a nice bottle of fizz to celebrate . Food was great wife had swordfish skewers to start followed by seafood linguine and I had dressed crab followed by thick cut lamb chops. A birthday plate with delicious chocolates on them was given to me at the end. Breakfast again was excellent and checkout a pleasure with Gillian again. All the service we had at reception , the bar and restaurant was excellent and would recommend . We will be returning .

My friend and I went for a latte. Now the Tearoom itself has a nice ambience and the staff are polite, the prices are on par with other places. But it is just so slow. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks. If we'd ordered food I wouldn't think that would be to bad as the food is freshly cooked. There are quite a few other cafe type places near by that we will be using now rather than the Tearoom. We have visited several times since it's opened so sadly we know it's not a one off we just hoped they'd speed up the longer they were open.

Went for breakfast with family. The food was lovely and the service was excellent. There was a variety of meals ordered, all arrived together and was piping hot all way through. If you want a delicious breakfast I would recommend The Pier Hotel.

We stayed with family for a birthday celebration, one night in the Mayflower suite which was lovely and spacious, comfortable bed and a relaxing space, nothing special in room for a special birthday, had to move to a different room for 2nd night, not the hotels fault very small in comparison but cosy. No cafeninated coffee sachets which was bit strange! Family had a family room but not good to have to pay 35 per child rooms expensive anyway. Reception service friendly and very efficient, however not personal. Restaurant food very good and waiting staff all lovely and friendly and good with the children. Overall a relaxing stay in a quirky hotel, pier opposite with food and drink options.
