Fountains Guest House - Harrogate Stays

The guest house is a lovely, traditional building in a great location. Very clean, and tastefully decorated. Small free car park at rear, if it’s full you need to get a parking permit from guesthouse. Takes about 15 mins to stroll into centre, which was great. Staff at breakfast time are lovely. Breakfast was good (but have say bacon was quite overdone on second day). Expected to see some fresh fruit but there was none. One thing that spoiled it a little was the door key pad (room 7). Every time we got to the room we had to enter the code 5 or 6 times before it would work (and we were very careful that we entered it correctly each time). This became quite stressful, especially at night, as the guesthouse is not manned by any staff you can go to for help, apart from at breakfast time and when cleaning is taking place. It is a lovely guesthouse, with nice staff and nice breakfast, but in terms of the room it was quite annoying and a bit stressful to go through that each time, so would advise the owners to get this fixed.

A very comfortable stay with easy check in. Rooms and dining area are pleasant, very clean and quiet. Attending staff at breakfast were welcoming, polite and helpful, especially with the coffee! The house is of typical sandstone of the area and is an easy walk from the town centre, and train station. Parking is easy whether in the car park or on the street. I used it as a base for seeing Yorkshire's gardens and some days walking on the dales. Would stay again!

Great location for strolling into the town centre. Our room was lovely, had everything needed and breakfasts were excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient. Parking arrangements were very good too. We really enjoyed our 2-night stay.

I would have loved to have given this a 5 out of 5, however there were just a few tiny little things that I believe are an easy fix. One being the general cleanliness. Overall it was clean, it’s just the attention to detail. We stayed in room 6 and it had a few marks on the carpet (looked like oil). Behind the TV where the single bed faces was very dusty. The heated towel rail was also dusty, which isn’t great when clean towels are being hung on there. We found a large hair clip behind the bedside table. Other than those tiny little things, it was clean. The parking situation isn’t brilliant due to only having 4 spaces in the car park. However, there is plenty of on street parking and the owners do go out of their way to help you to understand the awful permit situation. They are also very quick to reply if you need them on WhatsApp. Breakfast the first day was a little greasy but was more than edible. One thing I didn’t like was on the first morning, everything was snatched from underneath you even when you hadn’t finished your last mouthful. Efficient…A bit too much. Second morning was a lot more chilled. The check in idea with a code is fantastic and it allows all guests to come and go without the worry of sharing a key. Overall I would recommend this guest house and I would happily stay again.

Would love to return! We had a two night stay at the Fountains Guest house. Great location to walk into town and we managed to get a space on the rear car park. Smart entry system worked well so no need for room keys - a bonus . Super comfortable bed with modern bathroom and shower - small bathroom but perfectly adequate. We loved the availability of fresh milk in small flasks for the room if needed and well stocked hospitality tray . Breakfast was delicious- everything we needed and friendly service . Highly recommended 👍

Great place to stay in Harrogate A great place to stay, clean, comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed for the one night of our stay. Lovely served breakfast by a really pleasant girl who was on her own but remained calm and efficient under pressure. Two small criticisms,couldn’t find plain old terrestrial tv but everything else available and the “garden room” we booked turned out to be the front garden on to the main road.
