Excellent stay here over the weekend. Staff very friendly and attentive check in was easy and a lovely clean room. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious, my husband enjoyed the home made trifle so much the owner gave him some to take home. The full English breakfast is also a must. Would be happy to stay again and would definitely recommend.

We chose Chequers Inn for out annual reunion and so pleased we did. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. One couple had the suite with a balcony, it was spacious with lovely views. Excellent service and friendly staff made the stay a great success. Breakfast was also good value, I had the continental and a few friends opted for the full English. Price wise, unbelievable value for money. Close to Ripon, Fountains Abbey, Ripley and Harrogate. Highly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our two night break, exceptionally clean room and bathroom. We ate twice in the bar area and the food was amazing, special shout out to Harry who works very hard serving food and drinks , very friendly and attentive to a full bar. Breakfast in the mornings were also very nice so credit to the chefs who work here. The outside seating area looked lovely all lit up at night, unfortunately the weather stopped us from sitting there but it looked very inviting ! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Chequers Inn to friends and family.

Just returned after staying for a night at Chequers Inn. This is an excellent place to stay. The room we stayed in was a Deluxe Double and had a balcony. The room was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. We ate on Saturday evening and had breakfast this morning, but please keep in mind, it goes from empty to 'can't get a seat VERY quickly'.....and that's for a reason - the food is superb and very reasonably priced! The staff are really very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. If we are ever in the area again we would have no hesitation in heading straight for this top top place.

This is a lovely family-run hotel with a great restaurant. We were given a very warm welcome and the team did everything to make our short stay very enjoyable. The room was compact but well appointed, comfortable, with a nice firm bed mattress and high quality bed linen. The en-suite bathroom was surprisingly spacious and the formidable hi-tec shower head worked brilliantly. As vegetarians, we were slightly taken aback to discover that we had arrived on Wednesday "Steak Night". Nevertheless, the team offered us an off-menu mushroom pie with spuds and salad, which was just the sort of thing we wanted. I was disappointed there didn't seem to be any draught real ale and the Theakstone's bitter I was given was served far too cold. The room was quiet, but quite a lot of light seeped in, mainly via the bathroom, from the exterior lighting. Breakfast was excellent, with a lot of choice, friendly quick service, great coffee and delicious smashed avocado on toast.

Anniversary weekend They change my room for me on arrival as i preferred a balcony. The room was lovely. The food in the restaurant was excellent and huge portions and the staff were friendly. All in all a great stay . Fountains Abbey was 10 minutes down the road.

Disappointed😞😞😞 Was so looking forward to this, but expectations not met. More like a Motel. Beds were chaise longue style, restricting length. Toilet constantly running, asked for it to be fixed, but told it just takes time to fill (over half hour by then!) We had to unscrew and access cistern every time used to stop the issue. The shower head leaked at the bottom, with water spraying out. Sink push plug came away. Sink also took ages to drain. Toilet roll holder broke when changing the roll. Advised all on check out and was not a surprise to them! Towels were clearly old, somewhat threadbare and small. At least the teabags were Yorkshire Tea! & a decent biscuit given! Just won't be back.

Noisy when other Guests turned their water on. Cigarette butts in gulley of balcony, Room was OK but needs some TLC, 3 star rating does seem appropriate. Bar and Restaurant very nice, had a nice meal in the restaurant, I did think the breakfast was a bit overpriced.
