It's just that the facilities are too old. It would be better if the facilities can be improved. The room is relatively large. For me, the location is more convenient. There is no air-conditioning and there is a garden. I feel that it should be refurbished to be worthy of the price.

Disappointment unfortunately. For a hotel with such history and that claims to have such a high standard, this is a hotel that does not uphold quality service. It's run by amateurs who couldn't care less. Don't expect any staff to help you with anything. The lift barely works so don't bother if you can't climb many flights of stairs. It's also a huge hotel so you may be walking a lot to your room. The bar accepts card-only so good luck if you have cash! The rooms are big and that's the only redeeming feature. BUT there is no air conditioning and the rooms get overly and extremely, unbearably hot.

We really enjoyed staying at this historic hotel. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They showed us all the available rooms, so we could choose. The limited buffet breakfast was in a beautiful room. Maybe they could have offered service, due to the number of staff stood about. Great summer offer and we would stay again. Fantastic location to explore Harrogate. The hotel is walking distance from the shops.

We stayed for one night during our recent visit to Harrogate and were suitably impressed, the hotel has been tastefully brought up to date without losing too much of its original charm, the staff are helpful and informative, the rooms comfortable and clean and the breakfast of great choice and quality. we will no doubt go back for a further stay at some time in the future!

Lots happening as they were organizing the Theakstones Crime writers festival so parking limited especially Blue Badge. I had forgotten to phone to check we had a room with shower. This was arranged on our arrival without a fuss, it was on third floor so was very warm. The window opened and there was a fan which was effective and quiet so we were able to sleep. It would have been helpful to have a sheet so we did not need to use duvet as it was too warm. We were room only we did not need breakfast as we were going to Bolton Abbey steam railway for trip and breakfast.

What a perfect hotel, situated within easy walk into the centre. Breakfast was excellent. Thank you to Reagan Hunter who turned our very bad day into a better one. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend.

The hotel is beautiful but our room was disappointing . It was a standard double, very dark and dreary, the bed was very uncomfortable, we only stayed for one night, but wouldn't have been prepared to sleep there again. There were very few available electric sockets, a fan was provided but nowhere suitable near the bed to plug it in . The enormous dining room is beautiful, tables set well apart, and even though it was busy, so quiet which is such a pleasure these days of noisy restaurants . Dinner was delicious , but breakfast was a little underwhelming . Most of the items needed to be replaced/refilled. Even though breakfast still had an hour to run it seemed to have "run dry", however, I asked for poached eggs, and they were promptly provided. Maybe check the glasses provided at the buffet I took two that had lipstick still on the rim . We would definitely be happy to return, but only if a better bedroom was provided.
