Surprisingly disappointing. I come to Hanoi a lot as a business traveler, and I always get my accommodation at the Skylake. So this was not the first time I stayed in the Skylake, but this host is one of a kind.
1. When I contacted the host before my stay, he said I was scheduled to stay at S1 building. But on the actual check-in date, he told me S3. It didn't bother me at that time.
2. I booked a one bed room type. When I checked in, I realized it was actually a two-bed, two-bath type of flat, but the host just simply locked the other bedroom and the bathroom.
3. The whole flat reeked like dried seafood odor, as soon as I stepped a foot inside. Thankfully I was travelling to other local cities so didn't physically stayed at the flat too long (just my belongings in the flat and stayed shortly between the trips), but the odor was still very much bothering.
4. The host wanted 1,000,000 VND deposit. Like I mentioned above, this is not my first time staying in the Skylake, and I was never asked to leave deposit before. I ended up not paying it because I was out of the flat due to my local trips, tho. The host said he will return my deposit when I check out, but I'm not sure how that's possible considering the "No-contact, No front desk" system of the Skylake accommodation.
5. The host asked me to move to the other flat on my last night. My LAST night. I came back from my local trips and was gonna stay for the last night and check out in the morning; the host already knew about my schedule and asked me to move to other flat when I come back from my local trip. To stay ONE night. I refused and didn't move, but I suspect this was due to (1) & (2). It seemed like he failed to manage the booking and tried to solve the problem by moving me on my last night.
I like the Skylake accommodation in general. But I definitely do NOT recommend this host at all.
