Hangzhou Shangcheng District 2-star Hotels

Best hotel I’ve stayed in China, a solid 8/10 by nordic standards. Room was clean and looked liked pictures, service was good, new towels and water supplied everyday. A nice affordable option for a few days while traveling around Hangzhou👍 One thing for the hotel to consider: the bathroom door. The idea behind the silicone edges is nice but sometimes it would create a suction effect so that it was hard to pull the door open from the inside, needed a friend to help from the outside.

The room is clean, the room size is just right, there is a large glass window, you can see the view. It is next to the CHENGZHAN station red line (line1) and blue lines (line5) , very convenient to travel. Walk a little further and you will reach the JIANGCHENG station purple line (line7), you can go to the walking street at night. The towels are disposable, the wifi is not strong.

It is a nice place to stay, quadruple room has bathroom inside, which I prefer, because you only share with 4 people and don’t need to go through bright lights in the middle of the night to use toilet. Bed was cosy and comfortable, with everything you need inside, even towel hanger. Curtains really block light. Location is good, with metro and train station right around the corner, and you can easily rent bikes nearby with Alipay. Good convenience store downstairs. The only thing is that chinese girls are really messy with sinks and after one single use the place is a complete mess, as you can see on photos - it’s actually impossible for cleaning stuff to keep the place clean all the time if the guests don’t cooperate a little, but they just don’t care. The bathroom also has glass walls which don’t block view completely, so you can see the person’s silhouette sitting on toilet, which I find uncomfortable. But we were only in 2 in the room, so luckily not really bad. The common area is dark and not really comfortable to stay, smell a bit, but staff is nice and helpful (but no English), the offer space to storage luggage if you need. There’s water and tables to eat, and a big screen always with something going on (i had to dine with a disturbing movie going on, but I think it was just bad luck). It is a good place in general, i would recommend.

Compared to other hotels, the bar was a pleasant bonus, but the real game-changer for me was the washing machine with a dryer. For someone like me who changes clothes frequently, it's an absolute lifesaver! My biggest worry when traveling is always the hassle of laundry, especially clothes not drying properly. This single machine completely eliminated all those concerns – no need to air-dry, and my clothes were ready to wear by the very next morning. The hotel's ambiance was lovely, and our room was meticulously cleaned every day. Another huge plus was the parcel locker and Cainiao Post station located downstairs, which means you never have to fret about receiving deliveries if you order something online during your stay. Overall, highly satisfied! 👌

The location - it's center of the old street. Great for tourist. Walking distance to the famous morning Market. The hotel is tucked at a corner of an alleyway. We arrived midnight and the whole street was dark. The room is nice but strangely, the maintenance was bad. The exhaust fan was dangling like it was going to fall anytime. The rain shower heD was leaking. I had to screw it tight myself. The staircase going to the bed was scary. If you are w old people, pls don't book those with 2 floors. It was steep, narrow and the handrail was wobbly. If you trip or anything, most probably the handrail will collapse. The bedsheets have some human hair sticking on it. And entering the room, there's some dust ball flying around. Not sure it was some grass seed/pollen (spring time) or just not being cleaned properly. It was only 1 night for us and didn't really bother about all these.

A very cute and cozy inn near Westlake. Perfect location for exploring the area. Lots eateries and restaurants in the vicinity. Very nice and friendly staff. Staff even let me use her phone charger. And refunded back my first day booking that I didnt use.

The room was very well-appointed, and both the air conditioning and hot water worked perfectly. We had a really pleasant stay. My family and I stayed here for several days during our trip, and it was also very convenient for dining out and other activities. We'll definitely return next time and will recommend it to our friends.

Great location walking distance to west lake..new hotel...not enough washing machine coz many guests use it during peak hour after dinner time...hope hotel can provide more machine... buffet breakfast is a plus and variety...will stay again for my next trip.

Not affecting the overall experience BUT: the room description on the web makes it look like there is a private bathroom—no, this hotel only has shared showers and shared toilets. Oh, the toilet seats are heated. Amazing and helpful staff, all squeaky clean and cleaned on regular basis, bright corridors, spacious common space with kitchenette. The washing machines/dryers worked smoothly though I had to ask the staff to help out as I couldn’t make the app run (I don’t have a CN phone number.) Hotel provides a pair of slippers & single use towels, there are also automats where you can buy additional ones, as well as ones with snacks, beverages, water (hot & cold) dispenser. The hotel is near 2 metro lines, but you can easily walk to the West Lake too (it’s some 20-30 min walk depending how fast you walk and how many detours you take). Plenty of eating joints and some kombinis on the street, coffee next door. The only weird thing was, the window of my room led to a shared terrace—I arrived it was dark and woke up to learn. Still, I felt super safe and had no worries about my stuff when I was out. Overall, a good choice for my 4-nights stay.

Cleaniness-The room quite dusty on the floor and furniture. Bedsheets quite clean. After shower, the bathroom floor get very wet with puddles of water and slippery.Our toilet can't flush, informed the cleaning aunty, she said not her responsibility, we need to wechat to communicate with the reception counter to request for help. The shower head came off on our last night also. Amenities - very complete, got slipper, toothbrush set, comb and there is a washing machine in the bathroom, very convenient. Microwave oven, fridge, full length mirror. Location - good. 5min walk to a street with local food, claypot lamb stew, skewers, halal food, mixue, open even pass midnight. Opposite there is a night market, can get some AA bags, manicure, tshirts, lady clothing, shoes, phone accessories. 20min walk to the shopping mall full of anime items, cosplay and miniso full of lovely items.
