Lovely hotel. Amazing food ( menu really doesn't do it justice). Service 5/5. Staff so friendly and helpful. It was our wedding anniversary and they made it really special. We were given a free glass of champagne and petit fours. Would recommend this hotel

This hotel needs a serious refurb. The rooms are very basic and offer little more than a Premier Inn for a premium price. There is nowhere comfortable to sit with your party. The disabled bedroom still had the torn wallpaper, ivy growing through the window and dirty bathroom that it had in December 2024. Both seating areas are in reception and you are in the way of other people transmitting through the hotel or going to the toilet. The choice on the continental breakfast buffet is limited, it is poorly located in a small ll space up some steps and the area smells probably from spillages. The table for our party at breakfast was too narrow and not level. The cooked breakfast on day 1 was good but the cooked breakfast on day 2 was poor. The buffet was cleared on day 1 before we’d finished with no warning and it was hard to find staff to replenish hot drinks and toast. Food at dinner on day 1 was good. We went out on day 2. On a positive note the staff and service were excellent. They were very attentive and responsive and without them our stay would have felt expensively disastrous.

We were bought gift vouchers from our children and what a lovely choice it was. We we’re greeted by friendly receptionist and check in was fast and simple. Room lovely and clean. Yes, could do with a bit of a makeover but we had everything we needed. Bed was really comfy with lovely bed linen. We spent the afternoon in the gardens and this was so relaxing. Gardens are well kept with plenty of seating. The eight course tasting menu was some of the nicest food we’ve ever had. Breakfast was also delicious. The staff are the stars here, friendly, efficent and nothing too much trouble. Will be back again soon.

We stayed over for a couple of nights. The room was spotless both nights, and all staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. We had an excellent time and will recommend it to everyone. Thanks to all you're staff.

My granddaughter and I arrived early for our lunch booking at 12:00. This was a celebration meal after a long time of revision for my granddaughter. The ladies on reception were very tentative and asked if we would like drinks whilst we waited. A lovely lady who worked at the beautiful Holdsworth House for 38yrs, asked what drinks we would like and brought them outside where we were seated in the lovely gardens. At 12:00 we went inside to our table in the bar area, where we ordered our lunch. The food arrived in around 20mins, so you know it was all freshly cooked. The meal was absolutely delicious, one of those that made you go "mmmm* with every mouthful. We then ordered our desserts from the Al a Carte menu, we ordered 2 desserts and shared them and as expected they were delicious too, very professionally put together, well done chef & members of your team. After we had finished we went back into the lovely gardens for coffee. We had a lovely gent who waited on us, very polite and attentive who cleared our plates & brought the desserts. You have a great team! Thank you for making our day wonderful

Three plate .2 plates of very sweek cakes and fancies. Scones as hard as cricket balls 50 min delay .no apologiy no tea until we asked.Surly waiter Complained ..offered complimentary lite lunch we accepted/ returned 2 weeks later ..under cooked fish and chips and a soggy fish finger sandwich.Monosyllabic waitress. What a shame..my friend had been many times and previously loved it. Won't be goin back

The food was good. The bedroom was disappointing. The wardrobe rail was almost out of reach and was too small to accommodate standard size clothes and difficult to manage. There were no grab rails in the shower or soap dispenser or shelf. The staff were all friendly and obliging
