Sincerely the most invincible hotel I have ever stayed in, good service check jn will take you back to your room to introduce all the items and operations in the room. Finally, he offered to take a group photo for us. The food is of very high standard and the portions are large. Outside the public bath there is milk ball soda ice cream free, the room also has many drinks and beer, the lobby has a 24-hour drink bar. The room also has free Bluetooth speakers and a telescope for stargazing. On the day of check out we would transfer to another hotel and offered to help us get our luggage to the next hotel and the shuttle bus would take us where we wanted to go. Shampoo and skincare Lots of different brands to use, and lots of snacks to eat.
P.s. We upgraded the room to the previous level for free

I've had the pleasure of staying at several high-end hotels, including the Hakone Gora Byakudan. Without a doubt, Byakudan surpasses its competitors in every aspect. The service, facilities, and genuine care for guests are exceptional. I only wish I could have extended my stay. The room was flawlessly clean, and the bed provided a truly restful night's sleep. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, readily available to assist with any needs. The hotel's location is convenient, offering easy access to local attractions. Additionally, the complimentary car service to nearby destinations such as art museums and the cable station was a thoughtful touch. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were beyond delicious, featuring a diverse array of options. The snacks and wine bar were equally impressive. I particularly enjoyed the massage chair and the delightful ice-cream selection. I wholeheartedly recommend the Hakone Gora Byakudan to anyone visiting the area

For me, the food is great, fit portions, while my partner thought the breakfast time was too early and affected the appetite for food.
The location is great, it’s convenient. The environment is relaxing and quiet, the staffs are nice and good hospitality.
We wish to visit again and stay longer as we both enjoy the hot spring days

Spacious and clean room, with welcoming service!
We drove to Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora by ourselves arriving rather late in the evening, but still we were warmly greeted by their staff, who followed us to the car park and helped us take our luggages. Check in was smooth and we were in our room in no time! We asked the staff if there was any restaurant nearby and they printed out pages of different selections around the area! Since it was getting late, we didn't bother to go out for dinner, so we gave the hotel's restaurant a try, which quality took us by surprise! Dinner was pretty close to a fine dining experience, with good quality food and fair price - highly recommend. Breakfast was at the same restaurant and buffet style! Yum!
The room was clean and spacious, however, the onsen was semi open and we were a bit worried people outside may see us. There won't be people walking right outside, but still fairly close to the gas station/ convenience store across the street - may have to put in consideration on which room type you'd choose.

Ten-yu is amazing. We were impressed from the moment we stepped into the lobby. The kind staff allowed us an early check-in at 1 p.m. and arranged lounge services for our three-day, two-night stay. While the breakfast buffet was exceptional—an extensive spread paired with bubbles and wine—the Kaiseiki dinner was a bit disappointing in comparison. We were fortunate to experience a picturesque snowfall that transformed the hotel’s surroundings into a postcard-like scene, and since we drove, getting around was never an issue despite the snow. The staff were thoughtful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

It was a perfect hotel stay for families visiting Hakone. The room was spacious for our family of three. Comfortable bed and well kept room amenities. The buffet breakfast and dinner food and drinks were delicious. We love our visit to the Hakone Kowakien Morinoyu which was included with our hotel stay.
The only thing I didn’t like was the checkin procedure. We had to use a machine to checkin instead of going to the checkin counter and have front desk staff processing for us. It was a terrible experience because the machine failed at recognising our passport and it was terribly hard to enter everyone’s details on the touch screen. I should have to do this myself as a guest. Please get rid of the machine check in.

Outstanding
MMeng ChuanHad a delightful stay at the ryokan. The rooms are quite impeccable with the smell of the hinoki filling the room, it was quite heavenly.
We chose the room with the outdoor bath. And given the cool weather, our bathing experience was amazing.
The location was also perfect if you are making a trip to the Sengokuhara Susuki Pampas Grass fields, which is such a scenic spot and of which we enjoyed walked to and through in the setting sun.
We also opted to have dinner at the ryokan, who specially made it Halal-friendly for us.
What's most amazing to us regarding the ryokan was the service. We had a Nepalese staff speaking with us most of the time, as he was the best in English. He personally brought us to our room and even gave an introduction to the room, and what we needed to take note off. After we checked out, he enquired how we were making our way to the train station. There was conveniently located bus stop just outside the ryokan, so we were going to take that. On our way out, he drove out and stopped along the road beside us (good thing there was no traffic) and to our utter surprise offered to drive us to the train station. We found out that he was actually knocking off, but instead of going straight home to rest (before his next shift in the evening), he wanted to drive us to the station. We were exceptionally touched at his extremely kind gesture (as we didn't think it was hotel protocol to do so). Nonetheless, his actions left us a beautiful and lasting impression on the ryokan.
Would definitely go again for the luxurious experience!
GGuest UserThe room was very roomy. We got an upgarde unexpectedly and we were very thankful for that! The location is very good. The hot spring was also very nice. I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring the most. Would want to come back!
GGuest UserThis ryokan is perfect for people who want to experience ryokan for the first time but want something cheaper within Hakone area. Situated on the main road with buses to Owakudani and train to Odawara. I'd recommend catching the bus from Odawara to this ryokan since the walking trail from the closest station to this place is hilly and has lots of stairs. Main road is not very luggage friendly so pack very light when you're staying here.
This place has very nice rooms with view to the river behind it. The view is spectacular when the entire river area is covered in red autumn leaves. Dinner and breakfast are very delicious, you will be served a range of traditional food from a la carte to dessert. You can also book your private indoor onsen FOR FREE. The ryokan also has an open outdoor onsen across the bridge for 3000 JPY.
The only downside of this place is the main road is very busy as it's the only way for people to drive from Odawara to Owakudani. So local people take this road to get to Owakudani. Buses from this place will not stop at there in the weekend. Your best plan is to go to Lake Ashi first and take the opposite route to Owakudani instead. Plan your trip in this area very carefully because a bus trip that would take 10-15 minutes will end up taking you 1 to 1.5 hours.
TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.
GGuest UserHotel experience was mixed.
Positive: the hotel site has a lot of history, the Japanese garden was beautiful and the best part of the hotel. The included meals were good but not spectacular - yet the setting with a view of the Japanese garden was beautiful
Negative: the facility was dated with little catch up updares. Only one lock key can be provided n made my wife n my visit to the Onsen very inconvenient as we had to wait for each other all times. The outdoor access for men Onsen had to go thru a common area for men n women so need to re-clothe to get thru, not great. Facility for the Onsen bath were dated n worn out.
The in room lighting was dim n equipment facility visibly outdated.
The worst was I discovered a big size cockcroach in the bathroom when I got back from Onsen bath in the morning. Smashed it n picture enclosed.
We had high expectations coming in to the hotels with strong recommendations by Japanese friends. Was quite underwhelmed. I had stayed at other well rated Ryokans before n most have met or exceeded my expectation. This one fell far short of it.
SShenmedoubujiaoshi1. Let me talk about the transportation to the hotel first. I didn't do much strategy before, so I didn't know how to get there. Thanks to the Ctrip girl for patiently answering many of my questions. To sum up, there are a few points: 1) Take the hotel shuttle bus: There is one bus every day, at 14:00, and it will pick you up from Odawara subway station. You can see the bus parking lot when you get out of the station, about ten meters away. The straight-line distance is actually not far, but it takes about an hour to drive around the mountain. I think this is the most convenient way to go. You can directly ask Ctrip to help you book a shuttle bus. 2) You can take the bus. But because I don't know where to check the timetable, I gave up the bus. Everyone says that the bus station is 700 meters from the hotel, but it doesn't feel that close. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk. You have to walk uphill and pass through some residential villas.
2. The hotel room is very large, and there is a small loft downstairs. The decoration can see the old money style. There will be a strong mountain breeze at night, but the hotel windows are very soundproof. It's just that our chandelier lit a faint light in the middle of the night, which was a bit irritating. It was fine the next day.
3. The hot springs are open-air and indoor. They are quite standard. It feels that there are more people in the morning than in the evening.
4. The breakfast restaurant and dinner restaurant are the same. It is right after entering the hotel lobby. The view is very good. The breakfast variety is quite rich. Adults are RMB 200. Children are half price. Compared with the breakfast variety, this price is a bit expensive. Because there is no on-site service for breakfast.
5. There is a bus to Odawara Station at 11 o'clock. We went directly to the outlet with our luggage. Because the road to the bus station is not smooth, we asked the hotel's minivan to take us to the bus station. It took about five minutes.
6. It takes 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to the bus station. You can take a bus to Taoyuandai Station, and then you can buy a cable car ticket to Owakudani there. You can also buy a pirate ship ticket for Lake Ashi. They are all at that station, which is a hub station. You can also take a bus directly to the outlet. It takes about half an hour, and then it is very convenient to change to the outlet shuttle bus. I put the bus schedule below for your reference. There is a Lawson supermarket at the hotel station. There is also a park for watching Miscanthus, which is worth a visit.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel. Very convenient and quiet.
GGuest UserIt's near Hakonemachi port and the bus terminal of line H. The room is large with a high ceiling and lake view. The washroom is a bit old fashioned. There is a French restaurant, a teppanyaki restaurant and a casual bar restaurant. Car park in front of the hotel.
GGuest UserWe got to the hotel in the beautiful location just before 3pm and we got given a little tour of the place and then got shown to our room. The staff are very friendly and do their best to speak English. A lovely lady was in charge of our hospitality throughout our stay and she first showed us that there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring and asked us if we would like to book a time to use the private hot spring, we booked a time as we checked in but then we didn’t use it as we were happy with our private hot spring in the room. We also booked a time for dinner and they arrived at that time
Promptly with A LOT of food. We also got a choice for a staple food and we chose some steak which was high quality and delicious, as well as the lobster (on the menu it said grilled prawn but a lobster is what came and it was delicious). We ordered a few beers and a bottle of wine with room service and it always came quickly and was nice and cold.
The private hot spring is absolutely boiling but it’s a good experience and there’s ice water provided which helps.
Breakfast came at 8.30am and it was also huge! It didn’t come with coffee but I ordered some and that was easy enough.
The lady who served our food explained every dish and how to eat it and she was always extremely friendly and attentive.
Would recommend!
Sstarriiesinteresting balinese onsen ryokan. service was great, i couldn’t take raw food and my husband is allergic to prawns and they took notice for it and didn’t serve them during our half board meals (breakfast and dinner). the onsen water is certified to be natural and we could read the details of the certification from both the hotel reception and room toilet.
the private in room open air onsen’s temperature can be adjusted as well.
however the room’s shower’s door was not completely sealed and we found it very chilly to bathe even tho there was hot water supplied as the constant cold air from outside would come in. hope the hotel can take note of this and seal up the showering area’s door completely to prevent air from exchanging during shower.
it’s a jap-balinese fusion hotel, pretty interesting concept.
we drove during our trip around hakone area and be ready to navigate through very small and narrow roads while driving to this ryokan haha. really very narrow roads. hotel also requested for us to pass them the car key when we returned to the hotel, and to pass them the hotel key when we are heading out, which we found to be a little weird to be honest.
MMeng ChuanWe enjoyed the rather spacious room and the view of rolling hills. With large beds and a tatami room, it felt rather luxurious. The entire place has an 80s vibe, but good thing we liked the nostalgia it brought for us.
The room was quick clean too. Only that the outside balcony and windows had a few rather large spiders and spider webs. Good thing we don't have arachnophobia.
They have two locations for their onsens at different timings. So that needed some getting used to. The onsens themselves are decent enough.
Getting to the place was a little tricky as we didn't know what was the best bus to hop onto. We hopped onto the bus that Google Maps indicated was the most direct, only to realise as we were boarding that that bus was not covered under the Hakone Free Pass. On hindsight, to utilise the Hakone Free Pass, one should take the bus to Yunessen, the hotel next door and walk a short distance uphill.
For the price we thought it was quite worth it, especially compared to some of the other hotels nearby.
