Let me start with the disadvantages: It takes 15 minutes to walk to Hakone Yumoto. Fortunately, we came in December and didn't have to walk under the sun. There is a bus from Yumoto Station, depending on whether the time is suitable.

It was my first time staying in a Japanese-style room. I thought it would be hard to sleep on the floor, but it turned out to be very comfortable.

Everything was great - the morning and evening binding, the spacious and very clean open-air bath, the surrounding scenery, etc.

The hotel is next to a river, there’s a garden and 2 waterfall inside. We came in early Nov, the plants in the garden have not turned to autumn color but it’s still very relaxing to have a walk in the garden in the morning. There are yukata of different patterns and size to choose from. Yukata are places in the shelves next to reception and guests help themselves. Remember to take the belt, too . Inside each room, there are two haori for guests to wear outside yukata when it’s getting cold. It’s the first time we try Onsen in Japan and luckily we booked private room so we can adjust the temperature to our liking. Breakfast has many choices and food are good. Overall we have a lovely time in Tensein.
