The room was very roomy. We got an upgarde unexpectedly and we were very thankful for that! The location is very good. The hot spring was also very nice. I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring the most. Would want to come back!

A historic hot spring hotel with an open-air hot spring. The hot springs are very good, and you have to pay to sleep on the hot stone beds. The hotel's breakfast and dinner are buffet style. The food is fresh and delicious, with many styles and small portions, and is enough for every meal. The lady who manages the restaurant is very nice and proactive in helping. You can come again next time. We stored our luggage and will pick it up in the afternoon. We asked him to take us out of the station and he was willing to help. Thank you so much.

Pros: The room is very large, the view from the window is beautiful, and the tea and yokan provided are delicious. The hot spring has an outdoor pool, which is very comfortable!! There was almost no one when I went there, and the whole place was reserved. When leaving, there is a shuttle bus directly to Hakone Yumoto Station, which is very convenient. You can take your luggage there and store it at the station by yourself.
Cons: The sound insulation of Japanese-style rooms is always not very good, the outdoor area of the hot spring is relatively small, and I didn’t go to the rooftop to pay to try the loan hot spring. Maybe that is better? The biggest problem is that the hotel is located on an uphill slope. It is breathless to walk up with luggage. It is recommended to take the bus instead of the entrance of the hot spring field, and take a closer station (forgot the name). Of course, if you want to eat Hatsuhana Soba, you can write your name when you pass by and queue up. After checking in, you can almost be in your turn when you come down~
The attitude of the service staff is very good. Generally satisfied.

The hotel is around 15 mins from JR station no pick up service. The service and hotel facility are much better than my expection though most of employees only speak Japanese but they still try to help you if any question . The food also amazing and they provide the Reman in the late evening after hot spring ! hopefully I will have chance to stay in this hotel in the future.

The location is not so far from Hakone-Yamamoto station, but if you bring huge luggage it may not convenient. We only brought our backpacks to Hakone.
The room is huge, the design is Japanese traditional house/room. We booked a room with bed because we’re not very used to sleeping on floor. We didn’t get a room with river view but that’s alright. The bathroom is okay, they have a very complete bath-amenities and skincare ranges which is nice. We tried the private onsen, we paid about 3300 yen. But it’s worth the experience. The breakfast buffet is pretty nice with many various of foods.
Overally it’s a pretty good accomodation in Hakone area.

Location is about 20 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto station. They have a parking lot for hotel guests and also shuttle from train station. Staff cannot speak much English but are very friendly. You need to take off your shoes and lock them in the lockers at entrance because no outside shoes allowed but hotel slippers, which not very convenience but make it a very clean and tidy hotel. Japanese buffet breakfast is included in the room cost and quite a lot of Japanese food choices.
It has a pond garden which is good for morning wandering. It is also a very good Onsen facilitated hotel. You can book a private bath if you want to have Onsen together with your partner. They gave us 2 hotel spending coupons that can offset the booking cost.

At the innermost part of Hakone Yumoto Onsen Street, the hotel is located halfway up the mountain.
After exiting Hakone Yumoto Station, you must take the A-line hotel shuttle bus in the Yumoto area, which costs 200 yen per person and only accepts cash⑥. See Figure 1 for the shuttle bus schedule. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel, but there is an uphill road. Pulling your luggage will make your good mood for the Hakone hot spring trip disappear by half. Because the hotel is halfway up the mountain, the A-line hotel shuttle bus does not go up the mountain, so get off at Hotel Okada, then enter the lobby of this hotel and take the elevator to the 8th floor. The 8th floor of this hotel is interconnected with the two hotels of Hakone Mori Okada Hotel and Yunoquan. Follow the signs and walk for 2 minutes. The hotel is open from Monday to Friday, and the price for 2 people, including breakfast, dinner and hot spring, is about 1,200 yuan. Dinner is kaiseki cuisine, and one set of meals per person fills the table, which is quite ceremonial. Breakfast is a buffet, mainly Japanese style. The hotel's hot spring is on the 4th floor of the Tangzhiquan Hotel next door. The water temperature is relatively hot. There are 4 pools outside the men's bath room. There is a bubble massage pool with high air pressure, which has a good massage effect. There is also a free massage chair on the 3rd floor for massage. The hotel is a bit far away, but the price/performance ratio is good.

Actually, this hotel was booked at short notice, but it amazed me!
Let's talk about the service first. From the moment I checked in, a Japanese sister accompanied me throughout the whole process until the introduction of the facilities in the room was completed and I stepped out. I really experienced the service! Dinner was also served in the room, which was very private. Then the bed was made. Haha, this is really good! Let's focus on the hot springs. It's really big. It may also be Sunday night, so there are not many people. It's really a big bath for each person. Haha
Let's talk about the facilities. The basic ones are all there, hot springs, massages, vending machines, ice cream vending machines, milk vending machines (this really satisfies me)
Then there is food. Dinner can be full, but the level is slightly higher. The ingredients are not bad and fresh! But if you have to compare it with Michelin, that's hard to say.
The scenery, I have always liked Hakone not only because of the hot springs, but also the scenery. In winter, it is surrounded by white fog, and at this time it is red and green. And I like this one more because there is no noisy voice! In short, it is very good!
All with ocean views, Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa takes pride in its expansive grounds with guest rooms. There is also a natural hot spring bath, sports facilities such as tennis and golf, a spa, a rock sauna, and hotel-operated restaurants. With these extensive amenities, guests can indulge in a luxurious and relaxing time unique to a resort experience. Conveniently located, the resort is approximately 12 km from Hakone, accessible by car in about 20 minutes. It is also just about 4 km, or an 8-minute drive, to the Enoura Observatory, offering breathtaking views and perfect photo opportunities. Additionally, Lake Ashinoko is approximately 26 km away, reachable by car in about 40 minutes. Pamper yourself with a visit to the spa, which offers massages, body treatments, and facials. Outstanding
MMeng ChuanHad a delightful stay at the ryokan. The rooms are quite impeccable with the smell of the hinoki filling the room, it was quite heavenly.
We chose the room with the outdoor bath. And given the cool weather, our bathing experience was amazing.
The location was also perfect if you are making a trip to the Sengokuhara Susuki Pampas Grass fields, which is such a scenic spot and of which we enjoyed walked to and through in the setting sun.
We also opted to have dinner at the ryokan, who specially made it Halal-friendly for us.
What's most amazing to us regarding the ryokan was the service. We had a Nepalese staff speaking with us most of the time, as he was the best in English. He personally brought us to our room and even gave an introduction to the room, and what we needed to take note off. After we checked out, he enquired how we were making our way to the train station. There was conveniently located bus stop just outside the ryokan, so we were going to take that. On our way out, he drove out and stopped along the road beside us (good thing there was no traffic) and to our utter surprise offered to drive us to the train station. We found out that he was actually knocking off, but instead of going straight home to rest (before his next shift in the evening), he wanted to drive us to the station. We were exceptionally touched at his extremely kind gesture (as we didn't think it was hotel protocol to do so). Nonetheless, his actions left us a beautiful and lasting impression on the ryokan.
Would definitely go again for the luxurious experience!
SSean KhooNice historical Ryokan, hospitality is their highlight. Very nice food. Spent some time in their private onsen, it was great. One of the surprise is the Zen room, relaxing environment and I slept on the massage chair simply because it’s too comfortable.
Nice experience overall!
GGuest UserThis ryokan is perfect for people who want to experience ryokan for the first time but want something cheaper within Hakone area. Situated on the main road with buses to Owakudani and train to Odawara. I'd recommend catching the bus from Odawara to this ryokan since the walking trail from the closest station to this place is hilly and has lots of stairs. Main road is not very luggage friendly so pack very light when you're staying here.
This place has very nice rooms with view to the river behind it. The view is spectacular when the entire river area is covered in red autumn leaves. Dinner and breakfast are very delicious, you will be served a range of traditional food from a la carte to dessert. You can also book your private indoor onsen FOR FREE. The ryokan also has an open outdoor onsen across the bridge for 3000 JPY.
The only downside of this place is the main road is very busy as it's the only way for people to drive from Odawara to Owakudani. So local people take this road to get to Owakudani. Buses from this place will not stop at there in the weekend. Your best plan is to go to Lake Ashi first and take the opposite route to Owakudani instead. Plan your trip in this area very carefully because a bus trip that would take 10-15 minutes will end up taking you 1 to 1.5 hours.
TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.
GGuest UserBest hotel during my stay in Tokyo
Hot spring is nice
Drink is free to drink and even beer
The environment is good and nice too
Highly recommend and hope I can come again next time
NNigel LeeIf you drive, this is the place to stay. Open air sauna for guests, amazing breakfast and dinner. In spring, the garden is in bloom, while in autumn, you can catch the autumn colours all around the area.
SStephen LmfSpacious and clean room, with welcoming service!
We drove to Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora by ourselves arriving rather late in the evening, but still we were warmly greeted by their staff, who followed us to the car park and helped us take our luggages. Check in was smooth and we were in our room in no time! We asked the staff if there was any restaurant nearby and they printed out pages of different selections around the area! Since it was getting late, we didn't bother to go out for dinner, so we gave the hotel's restaurant a try, which quality took us by surprise! Dinner was pretty close to a fine dining experience, with good quality food and fair price - highly recommend. Breakfast was at the same restaurant and buffet style! Yum!
The room was clean and spacious, however, the onsen was semi open and we were a bit worried people outside may see us. There won't be people walking right outside, but still fairly close to the gas station/ convenience store across the street - may have to put in consideration on which room type you'd choose.
KkitekidThe exterior is in the style of a simple European manor, and the interior should have been renovated in recent years. The key is a traditional key with a long plexiglass room card, which is very impressive.
There is a natural hot spring private bath, where you can enjoy the view on the hillside. There are massage chairs, TVs, etc. in the bathing and changing lounge area for you to rest and cool down before returning to the room. The service is very considerate.
The breakfast is a Western set meal, which is exquisite and can be eaten as a breakfast. The restaurant faces the hillside and the scenery is invincible.
We arrived very late, and the front desk was also very friendly.
The front desk was also very friendly during the day, and they responded to every request. Luggage can be stored.
The bed and tatami are very good, and the quilt is a duck down quilt, which makes you sleep very comfortably at night.
The disadvantage is that you have to climb a slope to leave ”Gora”. There is a car to pick you up at 18:00 in the evening, so you can only climb if it's late. It's closer to ”Park Shang” and there is not such a big slope, but there is still a car at 22:00 on the mountain climbing line to ”Gora”, and there seems to be no car at 18:00 on the traction railway to ”Park Shang”. If you go late, you can only climb or take a taxi. We checked in late, so we only enjoyed the service of being sent to Gora after checking out.
GGuest UserWe got to the hotel in the beautiful location just before 3pm and we got given a little tour of the place and then got shown to our room. The staff are very friendly and do their best to speak English. A lovely lady was in charge of our hospitality throughout our stay and she first showed us that there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring and asked us if we would like to book a time to use the private hot spring, we booked a time as we checked in but then we didn’t use it as we were happy with our private hot spring in the room. We also booked a time for dinner and they arrived at that time
Promptly with A LOT of food. We also got a choice for a staple food and we chose some steak which was high quality and delicious, as well as the lobster (on the menu it said grilled prawn but a lobster is what came and it was delicious). We ordered a few beers and a bottle of wine with room service and it always came quickly and was nice and cold.
The private hot spring is absolutely boiling but it’s a good experience and there’s ice water provided which helps.
Breakfast came at 8.30am and it was also huge! It didn’t come with coffee but I ordered some and that was easy enough.
The lady who served our food explained every dish and how to eat it and she was always extremely friendly and attentive.
Would recommend!
GGuest UserThis was a luxurious stay for us. The room was large and very comfortable, the private bath was wonderful, the buffet breakfast was delicious (and offers a variety for vegetarians); in fact, it was our favorite part of our trip and we wish we could have stayed longer. The downside is the hotel dinner is expensive and not suitable for vegetarians, so the hike down the hill daily for meals (and then back up it) was a bit tiresome. Definitely book the free shuttle service to and from the hotel especially if you have luggage, the “hill” it is on is in fact several steep inclines that are difficult for those less than moderately fit. Another highlight was the hotel’s commitment to honoring the UN SDGs and striving to reduce plastic waste. There’s absolutely no reason in this day and age for people not to travel with their own toothbrush and combs. If you happen to need such amenities, they are available for nominal fees, barely worth complaining over, as many reviews did. This hotel may be pricey, but it’s so worth it, and they’re doing some good for the earth, so the stay comes with more feel good feelings. We are already planning our next stay here.
