I really liked the selection of pillows available to me in the room. I was given 2 soft and 2 firm pillows and I experimented with them to create the best sleep support. This is something I have never found at other hotels, not even a 5-star hotel. The only thing I could complain about was the noise created by the refrigerator. It produced a high-pitch vibration every hour or so and each session lasted for about 5 minutes. That significantly disrupted my sleep each night. It might be something that the hotel management should looked into as I think this was an issue for quite a few travellers who stayed at the hotel.

The reception staff were very polite and the room came with complementary chocolates which was a nice touch. However, there were a few things that made our stay less than enjoyable. Despite asking for our room to be cleaned every day (this was directly requested and acknowledged at the reception), several days we came back and found that our room had not been serviced. The bed was much too soft and provided no back support. Plus the sheets were done up in such a weird way—the duvet is merely sandwiched between two white sheets, not inside an actual duvet cover—so essentially any movement would uncover the inside of the duvet itself, which I can only assume is not regularly cleaned. We found this to be prevalent in Australia, but have never seen it in any other country we’ve travelled to. Without the aforementioned housekeeping, it was impossible to sleep comfortably with the sheets. There were also some details in the room that lowered the quality of our stay: - Apple TV did not work, and someone only came to fix it two days later. Even then, the connection was bad (you’d have to reconnect your phone every few mins) - The black out shades were really difficult to pull back up. We basically ended up living without windows for the last few days of our stay - Fixtures like the tap on the sink were loose and needed better maintenance Hoping that our feedback is helpful for the team.

For us Potts point is the coolest, Neighbourhood/village in sydney, this apartment block that is partly hotel, with its art deco charm, is a fantastic representation of the area, it is located in a quiet part considering it border with the cross/*****, we stayed in one of the un-renovated studios, however it had a quirky 70's charm, the studio is huge, with plenty of room, with a workable kitchen and dining table, the bed was a king with a extra single doubling as a sofa, all in all a lovely apartment. The reception staff, (jade), was helpful and very friendly, accomodating my elderly mother, she had a wonderful week stay and cant wait to come back, stay with these guys.

When I arrived in Sydney, I went to my hotel, and at first, I was like why did they put us here. On a quiet residential neighborhood a good 20-30 minute walk from the major attractions, it seemed an odd choice. I wound up loving it. First. the neighborhood is eclectic. It gave me a New Orleans vibe. The hotel itself is clean and very nice. The staff is super doting and helpful. It is a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross on the metro, which gets you to the heart of town in 5 minutes. There are plenty of great restaurants in walking distance. Next time I am in Sydney, I will come back here. It's quiet, nice, and wound up being a perfect location for us.
We’ve stayed at this hotel for a second time on New Year’s Day because it was so good when we stayed there in November . It’s clean , comfortable and the staff are utterly charming and helpful . Very happy to store our luggage for us. It’s in a great location just around the corner from bars and restaurants , a shirt walk from Kings cross station and about a 30 min walk from the sites of Sydney. The bed was super comfy, the shower was hot and powerful . Love this small hotel and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Hands down worst nights sleep Ive ever had away from home. I arrived late from an interstate flight. The code I was given to get into the front door didn’t work. I tried half a dozen times. It was night, I was a solo small female and tbh I was starting to feel a little scared. Fortunately someone walked out of the building and let me in. The code to key collection worked and I went upstairs to my room. Now if u have heavy luggage this is not the place for you. Think European hotels with no lifts! Same same! The room itself was nice. Bathroom and toilet are not part of your room. It’s a seperate room. For everyone! Shared. That’s fine unless you get a case of bali belly! I guess this is all due to the age of the building. Renovated and lovely mind you. Problem I had is the bathroom was the door next to my bedroom and with a two inch gap under my door my room was excessively noisy with the opening and banging of all doors and especially the bathroom. That door was on constant rotation. Then I could hear the shower going. All up I think I got no more than 2-3 hours sleep. Only choice is bring ear buds or the hotel should provide them complimentary! Worst night sleep I’ve had in any hotel across the globe. Room was very clean, as were the amenities, staff seemed lovely. In daylight area felt fine. I suspect rather alternative and trendy bring a non Sydneysider myself. At the price and cleanliness I’d recommend but bring good quality ear buds!
PPo KwongThis is my first time at the original backpacker.

I'll be back😊
GGuest UserSidney was very mocht worth the visite. The city as well as the hotel made that we wished we could stay longer. The city offers so mocht places to go that we had to make choices; we visite of course the Opera House, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park and St Marys Cathedral.
RRaymendHostel in central 30 min walk to major clubs and bars.
Convientent location for the train. Its literally 1 minute walk away from train station. Room was small but they have bigger rooms. Tight narrow space. Works for the night. Very busy always packed. Cheapest hostel possibly in sydney
GGuest UserThe facilities are nothing like the pictures. I am short and you cannot sit on a toilet seat unless you are sideways. The residence was extremely noisy. I was woken by Jack Hammers at 12.30am on night one. I was then transferred the following morning to a back room that during a slightly rain night created a large dripping noise from a tin vent outside the residence. I would for the price take up accommodation elsewhere. The administration of booking a residence for multiple nights was difficult as we had to sign paperwork to get another room card. The car parking indicated that we would get $40 off for the voucher when we only received $15.
GGuest UserBooked for 6 nights left after 4. The heating did not work for two nights could not sleep as it was 8 degrees at night in the Sydney winter. There was a hole in the window which is hard to believe and it was cracked. When we told the person onsite they came up to the room and put tape on the glass. The fire detector was covered for some reason with plastic. Dead cockroach under the bed. Bad smell in the room. The cooking pots and pans were filthy. The management was terrible, could not make contact with them. when we did they were not helpful. I understand that it is not a high budget place but I have stayed in a lot these types of places over the years and this was the worst. And we were told by management that we had got a better room than others. We were given an oil heater after a few days. Got on to the manager one night saying the heating was not working before 12 as stated that we can contact till. He said why had we not said this earlier. Freezing in the room.
AAudrey ExplorerFriendly customer service and hotel guests. Clean and tidy. Only the fridge is too full, and no laundry machine yet. The big plus is the location, next to the King Cross entrance at Darlinghurst road.
