Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel & Convention Centre

Truly awful experience at this establishment who rate themselves as a 4 star hotel but are more in line with 1 star service. A few of staff were sweet and at least trying, but most were completely nonchalant & literally just doing the bear minimum of what's required. It is clear that very little, if any, training has taken place regarding service. The rooms were ok, but do try to book a room on the golf course-facing side, should you choose to stay here. Otherwise, you'll be facing their parking lot. Also be aware that it's a good 30 minutes (more in traffic) from Gaborone City itself and therefore not very central.

Stayed for a business trip and while the greeting at the front desk was cordial and polite the true state became apparent when experiencing the hotel and services. On arrival the shower didn’t work, then, once fixed, scalded the user (others complained of this as well) room make-up was missed, access card kept failing - even when kept far from the phone, meals and drinks are expensive and plain. Some small animals to view on the course but they are damaging it - nature at work.

This is the second time I stayed there. First time the TVs did not work and my room in checkin was not made up. This time the pool was green and the water level was very low I asked if there was a problem and was told No but someone else looks after the pool. The power to my room shorted at about 3 in the morning and when I asked the reception said we will look into the DB board but a hour later they did nothing. In my view the hotel has gray rooms and potential but the staff have no pride in there hotel and only do what there job is. Such a pity.
