This is NOT a quiet apartment at all, creaky floorboards everywhere, if staying in December you will hear the festival down the road, if unlucky enough to have the apt above occupied you will hear every conversation, shouting, running around, door banging as guests enter and leave building. We complained to management but nothing was done so last night my husband had to knock on their door at 11pm to tell them to quieten down and stop kid running around. The road is a constant flow of noise. On the plus side, great location - very spacious, but basic facilities. Will not recommend and not be returning.

Great stay, clean and great location. Very spacious apartment and responsive host
Altough be careful it advertises parking available on request and a washer and dryer there is no parking and no dryer…but drying rack is availble. I VERY creaky floors, no one above us but i felt terrible for the people under us everytime i walked, even on tippy toes it was uncontrollable….

Very disappointed overall.. Large apartment but very stark. Needs a bit more thought like a few paintings in the walls at least and could do with better lighting for reading. We were given the wrong entry code and couldn't get into the apartment at first until we phoned them. No welcome pack as we were promised and never arrived even after two messages. Only one set of towels and no towel in kitchen until we rang for more. No soap in bathroom again mentioned but never arrived. Need more knives in kitchen and a plug for the sink for washing up. On the plus side good location and comfy beds.

My husband and I stayed in a first floor apartment which was huge with nicely decorated bedrooms and lounge. The bathroom, dining room, kitchen and laundry room were plainer but fine for our needs. It's situation was perfect, with good views of the park and very near the town and waterfront. There are also lots of restaurants only a few minutes walk away. There is underground parking too. Unfortunately the people above us weren't at all considerate and kept clattering backwards and forwards across the wooden floors, but that's the luck (or otherwise) of the draw.

The Wine Lodges are huge apartments above the Blandy's Wine Lodge, in the centre of Funchal. We stayed in the Malmsey apartment which is on the 1st floor. The lounge & main bedroom over looks an attractive park. The apartment was comfortable and well equipted. It is close to the waterfront, shops, and many restaurants - everything is within easy walking distance. The only downside was the noise from the tenants above, as it was very easy to hear them walking about. It is an historic, old, property that is not sound proofed and has creaky wooden floors.
