Very disappointing parking situation, 10e a day parking or driving up and down the road trying to find public spot.. NO WIFI!!!! What do you mean there’s 0 free WiFi access in any areas of the hotel
Wouldn’t be as big of an issue but there’s also very little mobile network connection, therefore use of Data was ever limited..
Breakfast - is okay, you could tell a lot of items are stored and reused days later (pastries, fresh fruits)
Pool is okay but sunbeds are uncomfortable and you can’t get a towel in morning (10am…)
Hotel management could easily make this in a 5* property with just basic additional amenities and being less greedy with add ons..
Overall for a supposedly 4 star hotel it’s more like 3.
However
Staff are quite nice and helpful
Rooms are crazy spacious (probably double what average same price hotel will get you in Portugal)
Location is good, a little further from city center (about 75min walk) but in front of a nice empty black sand beach

Schöne lage am Meer, Frühstück absolut okay. Es sind aber mehrere uns völlig unverständliche kleine Defizite, die eine an sich mögliches perfektes Urlaubsdomizil etwas vermeiden: auf dem wunderbaren Balkon keine Markise oder ein einfacher Schirm, keine Wäschespinne, kein Aussenlicht, keine Haken. In den durchaus akzeptablen Zimmern keine praktischen Ablagen , Haken, nachttischschubladen oder ähnliches.. wer ein bisschen Ausrüstung zum Wandern mitbringt, muss gucken, wie er seine Sachen unterbringt. Unnötig, da das Zimmer groß genug ist. Unnötig auch das Tamtam um die Minibar, die Kaution für Handtücher und Safe Schloss mit Zusatzkosten. Alles ein bisschen so, als trauten sie ihren eigenen Gästen nicht über den Weg ... Wie gesagt, im Prinzip wirklich kein schlechtes Hotel, aber für uns völlig unverständliche summierende kleine Defizite.

Reception team, apart from the young guy who is really nice are a little cynical and not 4* hotel trained. They did not have a dental kit or shaving kit and kept asking me if there was more than one guest in the room. The hotel is very dated, and apart from the views of the ocean, it is more like a 3* hotel.

We stayed here at the beginning of July for two weeks as a family of three (girl aged 9). The hotel was nice and clean throughout, room was spacious and the views out to the sea were stunning. The hotel was undergoing some renovations which could have been a bit disturbing if you were in your room longer than we were but overall didn't really have an impact on our stay. We stayed on a half board basis and the breakfast was good if nothing spectacular. Dinner was a buffet style and was fine but got a bit samey in the second week. I am not sure I would choose the half board option again. The pool was great and you could always get a sunbed no matter what time you went down the plentiful stairs to get there. If you have mobility issues then I am not sure you would be able to get down to the pool but we enjoyed going up and down the steps for a wee bit of a workout! The staff throughout were all very nice and friendly. Special mention to Putru in the bar who was lovely and always made a fuss over our wee girl which she loved. Also to the head waiter who was so welcoming every time we went down to the restaurant and again took time out to speak to my little girl and make her feel very special. Thank you. The entertainment which we went to in the bar was of some very energetic dancing which my little girl absolutely loved. I would say you need a car if staying in this hotel as it is a bit off the main area and although there are a couple of restaurants nearby there is not a lot without a good walk. The hotel does run shuttle buses throughout the week into Funchal, not on a Saturday or Sunday, which we utilised a few times and we always managed to get a seat on this and they ran on time. Overall it's a very nice hotel and we would stay again although I think they are turning this into an adults only hotel so we wouldn't be going as a family.

Sehr schönes Hotel in Top- Lage, Meerblick von allen Zimmern, Strand und Bushaltestelle vor der Haustür, fantastisches Frühstücksbuffet, sehr freundliches Personal, schöne Zimmer, einzig das Abendbuffet ist überteuert und mäßig, dafür einige sehr nette Restaurants in der Nachbarschaft.

Mooie locatie mooi uitzicht vanuit hotel. Mooie grote nette kamers. Schoon. Mooi schoon zwembad. Direct aan strand. Ligt op rustige gedeelte. Je kan lopen langs een mooie promenade naar camara de lobos een gezellig haventje en je kan naar de andere kant langs een paar restaurants met lekker eten en verder lopen naar het lidogebied. 2 x per dag een gratis pendelbus naar centrum van Funchal om 9.30en 10.30 en terug 16.30 en 17..30. Bushalte bij het hote busl 1.95 per persoon. Vriendelijk personeel. Eten en drinken bij het zwembad niet duur open tot 15.00. Matrassen wat hard ik vroeg of ze een matras topper hadden het werd meteen geregeld ! Ontbijt is prima. Wel veel trappen op en af naar zwembad toe een echte workout niet zo geschikt voor mensen die minder mobiel zijn. We hebben hier een super mooi verblijf gehad een echte aanrader!!
