An absolutely wonderful hotel. The staff work exceptionally hard to ensure everyone feels special and welcome. The food is beautiful , using quality , local ingredients. The grounds are wonderful , quiet and tranquil, situated above Funchal .

Lovely hotel, with a gorgeous garden, high up with a great view. Very comfortable rooms and delicious food.and all the staff are very helpful and friendly . Weather when we went was rather iffy, quite windy and sun one minute drizzle the next, but still a good break. As well as relaxing do explore Funchal and its gardens, market, and cathedral , also Santa Clara’s convent, museum and garden, wander round and soak up the atmosphere. Also get out and see some other parts of the island. Whatever you do ,have a massage, the best I have ever had anywhere!! I recommend the hot stone one.

I loved this place. I could make a list about the things I liked, but it would be very long! There wasn't a single fault with the hotel I could find. The staff were soo helpful, but not overwhelmingly so. The double room was just perfect size & the bed was huge & very comfortable. The bathroom is a good size with just the right amenities. My partner loved the bathtub. The gardens here are just stunning, & Colombo the large friendly Tortoise.. loves a nice chin rub. The pool is lovely, along with the service. A visit to the Beresford restaurant is a wonderful experience - the food is delicious. We tred room service that was superb too. The selection of drinks from the bar is fab too, the Madeiran rum was truly delicious. We've already made the decision to come back to Quinta Jardins do Lago because we loved it so much! 7 days was not really enough. See you again, & thank you so much for the comfort & service you gave us.

A really lovely hotel. The staff are all very friendly and ready to help with booking taxis, outings, etc. Our bedroom was roomy and comfortable with two armchairs, and a balcony to sit on. The bathroom was well supplied with nice toiletries and a shower over the bath. The hotel gardens are wonderful and full of flowers. Sometimes the shuttle bus down to the town was fully booked but on one occasion the hotel kindly put an extra run. The walk up from town is steep and in places there’s no pavement so we usually got a taxi which costs about €10 including tip. Despite the weather being slightly disappointing, thanks to our great stay at QJdL we had a very enjoyable week.

This was our second stay at this hotel and it is still probably the best hotel we have stayed in. Even the basic rooms are large with all the facilities you need and the beds are very comfortable. The restaurant is good with a very good choice of menu and helpful and efficient waiter service. The gardens are beautiful and very extensive with an amazing collection of sub tropical plants, shrubs and trees. It has several quiet sitting areas in the gardens and of course there is always Columbo the giant Galapagos Tortoise. The Pool area has a lovely heated pool as well as jacuzzi and plenty of sun beds. The bar and restaurant by the pool serves snacks drinks and lunches. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff. They are efficient, friendly and helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they bend over backwards to ensure you have a good and comfortable stay. We were there when we both had birthdays and the staff really made them birthdays to remember. We hope to go again soon.

Quinta Jardins do Lago was the ideal oasis to rest up from our adventures in Madeira. A beautiful setting offering spotless rooms and excellent food. All the staff that were really focused on making our stay a great one. We depended on them for restaurant choices, planning tours and hikes along the levadas and coordinating all our transportation on the island - and they delivered time and time again.

Excellent from start to finish. The hotel was spotless. The gardens were beautiful and it was nice to see Colombo ( the giant tortoise). ALL the staff were friendly and professional and the food was exceptional. A wonderful relaxing break. Thanks to all. Obrigado.
