We stayed here twice. once in 2023 and the same time, again, in 2024. The staff were excellent and our room was most comfortable, looking out onto the ocean. Breakfast was self-service and very very good with a wide choice of meats, cheeses, juices, cereals etc. Omelettes were made whilst you watched! There was also hot 'English' breakfasts available. We spent a lot of time in the indoor pool and used taxis to go into Funchal and, on several occasions caught a bus to Camara da Lobos were we ate wonderful fresh seafood. My partner is slightly disabled and the hills were a bit much which is why we didn't return for a third time. The incline from the road to the hotel was particularly steep but this is an excellent hotel with caring staff. We enjoyed our stay.

The staff are most pleasant and helpful. The balcony extending from our bedroom is far too small and uncomfortable. I was expecting a walk- in- shower in the en suite as this hotel is rated as a 4 star hotel but only to find a shower above the bath which is not very convenient for older visitors.

We've just returned from a lovely 10 day stay at the Madeira Gardens hotel. An absolutely excellent stay and we would thoroughly recommend staying here. You are about 30 minutes walk out of Funchal centre in the Lido area so be aware of that and it's not a flat walk in or back to the hotel so if you've got mobility issues you might be using the bus that stops right outside the hotel or use taxi's via the Bolt app as they are reasonably priced. So if that is all good for you then this hotel is spot on. Room with a sea view is recommended as it's a bit special. Room is very well equipped with a comfy bed, tea/coffee, fridge etc. Other facilities include great outdoor pool with plenty of sun beds, loungers and pool bar. Indoor pool and gym and sauna and steam room were really nice to use and not busy. Roof top bar, jacuzzi and patio gives a wonderful relaxing view out over the city and out sea. Wow !! We were B&B and breakfast was superb and staff very helpful. 10/10 for breakfast. Lots of restaurants in the area so we didn't bother walking into town in the evening. We used Google maps and TripAdvisor to find some great places to eat. So overall a super stay at this hotel and would happily stay again.

Had a great holiday. It is our third time here and we were very happy to return. The bedrooms are large and spacious and the staff lovely. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean and the buffet has enough choice that we had no problems on an evening. It is true the hotel is a distance from the centre of Funchal but we walked in (downhill) every day and caught a taxi back at night.

We've recently returned from a 10 night stay, our first visit to Madeira,and really enjoyed our stay at Tui Blue and would definitely return. Yes its up a steep hill & its quite a walk into the centre of Funchal, but not sure why people moan about this as its made clear on their website. The rooms were clean and very comfortable & we had a lovely sea view. All staff we met were lovely & friendly & we couldn't fault the breakfast (although the coffee wasnt the best). It is a quiet hotel with mainly older guests but this suited us (both in our 50's). We ate out every evening either at the local restaurants a few minutes walk down the hill or in the town and every meal was great. There's a lovely cafe called Casa Branca 5 mins away which we used for snacks & lunch. We used Madeira Tickets 4U previously mentioned in the reviews, to book 2 full day tours which were fab & gave us a real taste of the island & we would definitely recommend using them. Looking forward to returning later in the year.

EXCELLENT STAY! Just wish that our flight was not canceled upon arrival due to the HISTORIC, COUNTRYWIDE BLACKOUT that took place on April 28, 2025 in Portugal (as well as Spain) for over 12 hours. The next flight to Funchal, Madeira was not available until 2 days later as we lost 2 nights. Regardless, EXCELLENT STAFF, EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!! THANK YOU!!

I must say, We love the stay and stay were so friendly, Ivone, Sara, Vitor, Angel. From the arrival to the departure, it was just an great experience, 5 star rated. From the check in arrival with glass of espumante, to all recommendations front desk told us, restaurants, Tours ( if you can book with the reception do so, gd value and small tour groups witch). Hotel variety on food ) casual dinning good food, breakfast viarety on daily buffet, eggs cook to order.... Highly RECOMMENDED!!!!!
