Really nice stay with family. Good facilities, pools and outdoors. Food and drinks really good and a lot of variety. Staff excellent, really nice and available. The rooms starts showing need for modernisation.

Excellent place for a super stay: Nice big clean room, comfy beds, good food and pleasant location. Staff is hard working, very nice and helpful. Music in the morning has been appreciated, especially the guitar. We didn’t participate in any events, but highly recommend Laeticia for a pampering and/or a massage : she is as skilled as caring.

We had a lovely time at Pestana Royal Hotel. The best thing about the hotel is the staff.They cannot be more helpful and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. We had an issue with our suitcases not arriving in Madeira and all the reception staff did everything they could to try to get our bags to us as soon as possible. The food is really good. I am Celiac and Chef made sure there was plenty of choice for me. I even had cake every day 😀. Rooms are large and most offer a good view of the sea. After a few days we were given a short note asking for feedback on our holiday so far. I commented the beds were a little hard for me and also there were no dressing gowns in the room. Within the hour, a member of staff had bought up lovely soft mattress toppers and two dressing gowns for us. Amazing! Plenty of choice with the drinks. Wine at lunch and dinner, served by waiters at your table and you can have cocktails from 11.00 am. We would go back and we highly recommend this hotel.

Our first comment has to be that the staff at Pestana Royal were very helpful and pleasant, especially the restaurant and bar staff. The hotel in the perfect position to enjoy Funchal and the nearby village of Câmara de Lobos. The public rooms and pool areas were beautiful. It does, however, need a little TLC in some areas, such as the door in the bathroom that needs re varnishing. The meals were good and there was so much variety and choice. We did feel that the tables were a little bit too close together for comfort. The entertainment was varied, we actually loved the music bingo, which we didn’t think we would. The groups/singers were very good, and the karaoke was ok. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, loved Madeira, and would be happy to stay in the same hotel again.
