Allegro Madeira - Adults Only

Just got back from 5 nights at this hotel. Honestly very good hotel, the rooms are quite modern and lovely and clean, the cleaners did a fab job with the daily cleaning as well. As you wonder around the hotel it all appears very well maintained. Good location, a bit far to walk into the centre of Funchal but there’s a bus stop just outside so super easy to get around. Also lots of restaurants nearby and little shops, there’s the lido at the bottom of the hill as well. Near a fairly busy road but we didn’t find this to be an issue overnight. The breakfast was pretty good, decent variety I’d imagine everyone would be able to find something they’d enjoy there. The fried eggs and the personalised omelette station was fab. The staff were all super friendly and willing to help you, very attentive. I’m not sure if it was just the time of year but there was always sun loungers available by the pool no matter the time of day, only downside was there’s nearby construction which was a bit loud but not a fault of the hotel. There’s QR codes and little buttons to push by the loungers for ordering drinks however we couldn’t get this to work so we just went into the bar to order our poolside drinks. Shoutout to the rooftop bar, lovely experience and the staff Javier and Andrie took fabulous care of us, they remembered our order and always had a smile to greet us. Only issue we had while staying was that our safe stopped working which was unfortunate as it meant we had to carry our passports around with us and we felt a bit uneasy as we had to leave very expensive camera equipment in the unlocked safe. Nothing was touched though and it was really a minor inconvenience and a shame they were unable to fix it during our stay. Another good point is you can pay to use the car park so we were able to hire a car for multiple days and feel safe leaving it parked overnight for a reasonable price. Overall a great hotel which I would stay at again.

Great hotel in a great location. Check in was great, we got into our room a little early which was helpful. Room was nice, small but obviously great sea views. Only real issue we had was with the beds.... I think if you book a double room in a adults only hotel, you expect to have a large double bed. What we got was 2 singles pushed together. I can understand this to an extent, what I can't understand is it was still 2 single sheets, 2 single covers, basically 2 single beds. The mattress was also incredibly soft, so if you have a firm mattress at home like we do, expect some back ache. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and all very tasty. Excellent small gym and we loved the sauna which you can book out at reception. Pool area was also very nice, however the pool water temperature was absolutely freezing 🥶. You could dip in it to cool down, no real swimming though. Rooftop bar is lovely and enjoyed watching some of the shows up there. All the staff were great, very helpful and friendly. All I'm all, we lovely the hotel, however the bed situation would mean that we likely wouldn't return.

We had a fabulous 11 night stay at this hotel and honestly couldn't fault it! The location was perfect as it was around a 20 mins walk into Funchal and only a short walk down to the lido and promenade. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and answered any questions we had during our stay. We found the room to be clean and modern which really suited our tastes. Breakfast was fantastic and there was always something tasty to eat, the staff were always cleaning tables and replenishing food which had run out which was great. Breakfast starts at 7.30am which I believe is typical for most Portuguese hotels however I do wish it started at 7am. Most days we were out early to enjoy Madeira's hiking trails before they were too crowded and that meant we missed breakfast some days. I feel like a lot of guests would benefit from an earlier breakfast option, this would be my only feedback. The rooftop bar is gorgeous and the drinks are delicious! Special shout out to the guy who was working there who kinda looked like Jason Momoa. He made the best Nikita's, Poncha and Cuba Libras we had on the whole island! He had a cracking sense of humour as well! We will definitely return to this hotel in the future! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

good hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast options, location is close to restaurants, grocery and 10 minute bus ride to Old Funchal

This was a very nice mid priced hotel with lots of nice facilities and great food options. Room and bath were very comfortable, clean and well resourced. Bathroom towels were the largest i had very seen! All staff were simply wonderful - caring, attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Would def recommend. Despite the building work going on this did not impact on me at all. Close to private car hire, taxis, public transport and airport shuttle stop, a lot of local and regional restaurants nearby, and very happy with my five night stay.
