Allegro Madeira - Adults Only

What a beautiful place. For the price I paid it cannot be faulted.

Great hotel in a great location. Check in was great, we got into our room a little early which was helpful. Room was nice, small but obviously great sea views. Only real issue we had was with the beds.... I think if you book a double room in a adults only hotel, you expect to have a large double bed. What we got was 2 singles pushed together. I can understand this to an extent, what I can't understand is it was still 2 single sheets, 2 single covers, basically 2 single beds. The mattress was also incredibly soft, so if you have a firm mattress at home like we do, expect some back ache. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and all very tasty. Excellent small gym and we loved the sauna which you can book out at reception. Pool area was also very nice, however the pool water temperature was absolutely freezing 🥶. You could dip in it to cool down, no real swimming though. Rooftop bar is lovely and enjoyed watching some of the shows up there. All the staff were great, very helpful and friendly. All I'm all, we lovely the hotel, however the bed situation would mean that we likely wouldn't return.

We had a fabulous 11 night stay at this hotel and honestly couldn't fault it! The location was perfect as it was around a 20 mins walk into Funchal and only a short walk down to the lido and promenade. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and answered any questions we had during our stay. We found the room to be clean and modern which really suited our tastes. Breakfast was fantastic and there was always something tasty to eat, the staff were always cleaning tables and replenishing food which had run out which was great. Breakfast starts at 7.30am which I believe is typical for most Portuguese hotels however I do wish it started at 7am. Most days we were out early to enjoy Madeira's hiking trails before they were too crowded and that meant we missed breakfast some days. I feel like a lot of guests would benefit from an earlier breakfast option, this would be my only feedback. The rooftop bar is gorgeous and the drinks are delicious! Special shout out to the guy who was working there who kinda looked like Jason Momoa. He made the best Nikita's, Poncha and Cuba Libras we had on the whole island! He had a cracking sense of humour as well! We will definitely return to this hotel in the future! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The location of the hotel was very good with a short walk to the lido, a walk of around half an hour to get to the marina and a bit further to Funchal town. The outside of the building gives an indication to the inside it has patterned blue and white tiles down one side and the rest is unpainted concrete and this is reflected on the inside too. We were a couple staying in the junior suite. The room was small but adequate, however although there were several things which let the room down for instance, although there was an open wardrobe to hang up your clothing my partner was not tall enough to reach the rail and her dresses were too long for the space. This was surprising as the other wall was completely free and a wardrobe could have fitted in easily. Although there was a mirror by the door there was no mirror for my partner to do her hair near any electrical points. The bathroom was also small but adequate, there was no room to put out your toiletries and although the shower was good, you were standing on the drain. The balcony, was uninviting as it was not painted and just looked like a concrete bunker. On the plus side, the room was clean and the bed comfortable and you even had a pillow menu and we did change our pillows. Breakfast, although nice, was a bit uncomfortable. As it was cold outside, breakfast was everyone indoors and there was very little space between tables. We did arrange with reception to use the spa which was very nice even though only a steam room and sauna. Staff very nice and always happy to help. Tip if you want a two egg omelette, make sure you tell them otherwise you only get one egg.

Super location at the town end of the Lido. Excellent full buffet breakfast. Sea view room had a stunning view and a large balcony. Several local buses stop at this corner on Monumental. Judita’s Laundry is across the street. A smaller hotel and very quiet. Very large pool/patio for this size in a sheltered location, not overlooked. Full size grocery store is a 5 minute walk.
